Yesterday, September 20, The Broadway League and The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) presented the third annual Broadway Salutes, a public celebration recognizing the countless professionals who have made Broadway great for decades. In this industry-wide celebration, theater professionals received special recognition for having worked 25, 35, and 50+ years in their respective theatrical craft. The event featured performances by Raul Esparza and Leslie Uggams. Kathleen Marshall, Bebe Neuwirth and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn were the afternoon's special guests.

Gingold Theatrical Group continues its sixth sold-out year of PROJECT SHAW with one of Shaw's most beloved comedies THE MILLIONAIRESS, on Monday, September 26 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.

The 20th annual San Francisco Fringe Festival, which closed its 12-day run on September 18, has announced the 17 winners in its various 'Best of the Fringe' Awards for 2011.

Renaissance man Phil Coulter has managed to write, produce or record chart-topping songs in every decade since the 1960s. Such iconic artists as Elvis Presley, Van Morrison and The Bay City Rollers have sung Coulter's impressive songbook. In addition, his atmospheric instrumental CDs, which Enya credits as an inspiration for her own best-sellers, have found the pianist a regular home on the charts. The consummate songsmith's most recent triumph has been his role as music director and composer for the hugely successful Celtic Thunder, which has enjoyed great success on PBS, enjoying several Gold selling albums and sold-out tours across the country and even an appearance at the White House. Celtic Thunder's devoted following range from teenyboppers to grandparents alike. Their current CD Heritage has surpassed Coulter's expectations. 'I was thrilled to see Heritage climb to number 11 in the Billboard Hot 200......up there with Pink and Lady Gaga!'

On Saturday, September 17, the Billy Elliot held an open call for the newest crop of ballet girls in front of the Broadhurst Theatre in Times Square, drawing out the most hopeful of young dancers in all shapes and sizes with expressive character and lots of personality. Ballet girls Maria May and Brianna Fragomeni, currently starring in the production, were on hand to cheer on the auditioners.

Meg Caswell, 34, an interior designer and business owner from Chicago, Ill., has been crowned the season six champion of the hit reality competition HGTV Design Star. During tonight's season finale, panel member Vern Yip, along with Genevieve Gorder (Dear Genevieve), Candice Olson (Divine Design) and mentor David Bromstad (Color Splash), delivered the life-changing prize to Meg - a contract for her own show on HGTV.

Pride Films and Plays is delighted to announce the two winners of 2011 Women's Work Contest. The Sapphics on Stage winner was Patient HM by Vanda from New York, and the Sapphics On Screen winner for Best New Screenplay was Girls Out Loud by Pat Branch from Los Angeles. The announcement was made at the Hoover-Leppen Theater at Center on Halsted at the completion of the Women's Work Weekend.

On September 9, 2011 International Tenor Karl Scully performed for the newly formed benevolent organization, 'Since You Went Away,' formed by 7 young ladies, whose goal is to be a blessing and encouragement to the mothers of our troops, especially those serving overseas. Mary McDonough, who may be best known for the role of Erin Walton that she created and played for over a decade on the hits series 'The Waltons,' has penned a memoir, which is the winner of the Ella Dickey Literacy Award, entitled of Lessons From the Mountain: What I Learned From Erin Walton (Kensington Publishers). McDonough has taken her book on the road, signing and speaking in various venues. She appeared at the Barnes & Noble at 2289 Broadway in New York City yesterday. View photos from the event below!

Sarasota Orchestra and Van Wezel Pay Tribute to 10th Anniversary of 9/11 Concert Proceeds to Benefit Local Charities

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater opens its 12th season with French symbolist Maurice Maeterlinck's PELLEAS & MELISANDE, in a new translation by Cutting Ball Artistic Director Rob Melrose. Directed by Melrose, with a musical score by composer Cliff Caruthers, video installation by Wesley Cabral, and choreography by Laura Arrington, PELLEAS & MELISANDE features Joshua Schell, Catilyn Louchard, Derek Fischer, Paul Gerrior, and Gwyneth Richards, along with Bennett Fisher, Jessica Rudholm, Carla Pauli, and Brittany Kilcoyne McGregor.
