The Town Hall, New York City's landmark theatre and concert venue, concluded its acclaimed 5th Annual Summer Broadway Festival with All Singin' All Dancin' on Monday, July 25th. Playwrights Horizons will present the New York premiere of COMPLETENESS, a new play by Itamar Moses (The Four of Us, Bach at Leipzig). Directed by Obie Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park at PH, The Four of Us, Occupant, Peter and Jerry), the production will begin previews Friday, August 19 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 13 at 7PM. The first production of the theater company's 2011/2012 Season, the limited engagement will play through Sunday, September 25 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater. After nine seasons filled with seven After Dark Awards, five Non-Equity Jeff Awards, and 27 productions that included such critically-acclaimed shows as The Kentucky Cycle and The Grapes of Wrath, Infamous Commonwealth Theatre (ICT) is no longer a producing theatre company.

Today 25 July 2011, in the production's seventh year in the West End, 13 year old Adam Vesperman from Seattle, USA, will make his West End stage debut as Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre, becoming the twenty-seventh boy to play the title role in the hit west end show Billy Elliot The Musical.

As I wrote five years ago, regarding the first edition of Town Hall's Annual Broadway's Rising Stars concert, the traditional middle evening of their Summer Broadway Festival, this is an event where I have absolutely no intention of writing anything the least bit negative about any of the young performers who were hand-picked by Scott and Barbara Siegel to sing an evening of showtunes.  I have no desire to be the critic who drives some 22-year-old to tears with a bit of constructive criticism, inspiring him or her to angrily vow to the heavens, 'Someday I'll show that Michael Dale!'

On Monday, July 25, 2011, ASTEP, a nonprofit organization that uses the arts as a tool to foster creativity, teach life skills, and awaken young people's imaginations around the world, presents a one-night benefit concert reading of NAUGHTY/NICE, a new wickedly funny musical featuring grown-up Broadway performers singing misfits kids' letters to Santa Claus.

Gingold Theatrical Group continued its sixth sold-out year of PROJECT SHAW yesterday with Shaw's first commercial success, the rarely produced satire FANNY'S FIRST PLAY which was initially written anonymously.

The annual Broadway's Rising Stars features students from theatrical institutions throughout the country, including AMDA, CAP21, Steinhardt, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Melon, Marymount Manhattan College, and The New School. These future performers make their debut on The Town Hall stage in what has become a national showcase. Scott Coulter is the director, with choreography by Vibecke Dahle and musical direction by John Fischer.

UnsungMusicalsCo. Inc. will present a special exploratory reading of the 1969 musical comedy The Fig Leaves Are Falling as part of The Archival Project, a UMC initiative aimed at researching, assembling and restoring the material from unpublished and out-of-print musical shows. Featuring John Bolton (Curtains, Spamalot), Troy Britton Johnson (The Drowsy Chaperone), Natalie Venetia Belcon (Avenue Q) and Cortney Wolfson (Legally Blonde, The Addams Family), the reading will be held on July 29 at 3pm at Manhattan Theatre Club's Creative Center, 311 West 43rd Street.

Vineyard Theatre will produce a developmental lab of the newly imagined musical ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER - with music by Burton Lane, lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, and reconceived and directed by Michael Mayer - July 25 to July 30 at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street), it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre artistic directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern.

Westport Country Playhouse opens 'Lips Together, Teeth Apart,' written by Terrence McNally and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director, tonight, July 12. The production will run through July 30, 2010. A perceptive comedy with powerful dramatic conflicts, the play is about two straight couples spending a July weekend on Fire Island.

According to EW.com, Broadway veteran Karen Olivo is set to join the second season of NBC's 'Harry's Law.' Olivo joins previously announced Alfred Molina, who will also star in a multi-episode arc.

The Actors' NET of Bucks County concludes its 15th season July 15 -31 with the brilliant musical blockbuster, Cabaret. With a book by Joe Masteroff, based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood, Cabaret boasts an explosive score with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
