2013 MIDWINTER'S TALES: SIMPLE GIFTS - A Celebration of the Season in Music and Musings, benefiting both Oak Park Festival Theatre and Prevail (formerly Oak Park River Forest Walk In Ministry) will be held at 7 PM, tonight, December 7, 2013, at the Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois.

For his second BSO program on July 19, Maestro Nelsons will be joined by Swedish trumpeter Hakan Hardenberger performing his compatriot Rolf Martinsson's Trumpet Concerto, on a program with music by Brahms and Tchaikovsky. The following Sunday afternoon (7/20), Maestro Nelsons will open his BSO program withChristopher Rouse's Rapture, followed by Lalo'sSymphonie espagnole, with violin soloist Joshua Bell, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5.

Now in its 16th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook will continue to expand its scope celebrating the best in American singing and songwriting. New this year, the opening night concert will befree, in the David Rubenstein Atrium, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. 'Live From Lincoln Center,' the Emmy Award-winning program broadcast nationally on PBS stations, will shoot four of the first week's American Songbook concerts in The Allen Room: by James Naughton, Lawrence Brownlee, Jason Isbell, and Patina Miller. These performances will be broadcast nationally beginning in Spring 2014. In addition, American Songbook concerts taking place in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center will be live-streamed via http://watch.lincolncenter.org.

The Theatre at Arts Garage in Delray Beach, Florida opens their season with The Longing and the Short of It, written and composed by acclaimed composer/lyricist Daniel Mate, who won the 2013 Kleban Prize for Most Promising Musical Theatre Lyricist. The song-cycle will delight audiences with a series of catchy, thrilling, and unpredictable theatre songs in a variety of musical styles.

An outbreak of uncontrollable belly laughs is forecast for the trifecta of live comedy shows on tap over two consecutive weekends, today, October 12-19th at the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Boulevard in downtown Aurora.
