Boston Ballet Announces its 2018-19 Season

Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces programming for the 2018-2019 season at the Boston Opera House. The season opens with Genius at Play, a celebration of Jerome Robbins' and Leonard Bernstein's 100th birthdays. Nissinen's The Nutcracker returns to enchant audiences with its beloved characters and brilliant dancing. The spring season includes an array of classical favorites and highly anticipated premieres, starting with the first world premiere by world-renowned choreographer William Forsythe created on an American company since 1992. Returning favorites include George Balanchine's Coppelia and Sir Frederick Ashton's Cinderella. The Company's 55th season runs September 6, 2018 through June 9, 2019.
The Sarasota Ballet Presents Ballet Hispanico, America's Premiere Latino Dance Organization

Ballet Hispanico to perform three works by female Latino choreographers at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, 23 - 25 February 2018. Sarasota, FL (January 30, 2018) - The Sarasota Ballet presents Ballet Hispanico, 23 - 25 February 2018 at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, featuring three works: Michelle Manzanales' Con Brazos Abiertos, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's Linea Recta and Tania Perez-Salas' Catorce Dieciseis. This international touring company will arrive in Sarasota following performances in Germany and Norway and will head to Scotland following their Sarasota run.

One cannot deny that the subject matter is hardly the most hard hitting, but this decorative ballet is full of delightful touches and romantic choreography that make for dreamy viewing.

Sarasota, FL (November 30, 2017) The Sarasota Ballet's production of Matthew Hart's John Ringling's Circus Nutcracker entwines the history of John and Mable Ringling, and Sarasota's unique connection to the Circus with Hoffman's classic tale of The Nutcracker. Opening December 15 at the Van Wezel for three performances, the ballet is performed with a full orchestra the Sarasota Orchestra making it the only Nutcracker in the Sarasota Manatee area with live music.
