The classic comic love story proves timeless as The Australian Ballet's THE MERRY WIDOW returns to the Sydney stage 43 years after it debuted in Melbourne in 1975.
Donald and Donna Baumgartner, long-time donors and champions of the arts in Milwaukee, have made a $1.5 million gift to the Florentine Opera Company. This gift will support the Company's nationally recognized Studio Artist program, which is in its tenth season. Moving forward, it will be named The Donald and Donna Baumgartner Studio Artist Program, in recognition of their generosity.
Soprano Cecilia Rangwanasha, who recently won second place, and the audience prize at the Philip Schock Singing Competition, will perform in Cape Town Opera's SPARKLING YOUNG STARS event at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre this December. This will be the climax of a terrific year for Rangwanasha, who also won the ATKV Muziquanto competition in September and second prize at the UNISA National Voice Competition in July.
