This award winning Broadway classic is an all-American institution. The Music Man, by Meredith Wilson and Franklin Lacey, is the liveliy, funny and romantic tale of the fast-talking Harold Hill (Ian Moore) who cons the citizens of River City into buying instruments and uniforms for their children to form a marching band. But his plans are changed once he meets the town librarian, the lovely Marian Paroo (Rebecca Madeira).

BWW Review: THE MUSIC MAN at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CMPAC
by Melissa Giordano

Having previously attended a wonderful local production of Meredith Willson's Tony winning musical The Music Man, I was bursting with high hopes for the incarnation at The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CMPAC. In a strong main stage directorial debut, CMPAC vet Matt W. Surico - usually the Music Director and/or cast member - doesn't disappoint assembling an outstanding cast and crew for this classic show.

The Music Man opened Friday the 29th of January at The South Bend Civic Theatre with no detail spared on trying to make the classic musical come to life. The musical, whose book, music, and lyrics are by Meredith Willson with the story by both Willson and Franklin Lacey, became an instant hit in 1957 when it opened on Broadway. It won five Tony Awards, including 'Best Musical', and ran for more than 1,300 performances. BWW Review: Keeton Theatre's THE MUSIC MAN
by Jeffrey Ellis

If you were to ask me to list my five favorite musicals (or even my top ten), there is a very good chance I would not include Meredith Willson's The Music Man among my chosen favorites. But then I see another production of that particular Willson tribute to Americana that features a fast-talking salesman and a beautiful young librarian named Marian and I am suddenly reminded that I absolutely adore The Music Man and all 76 of its trombones - and I feel remiss in not listing it among the shows I love.
