A Fan Favorite is returning to the State Theatre as comedian Bobby Collins hits the stage on Friday, April 1. Collins returns in support of his 4th DVD which was recorded at the State Theatre last March. This DVD, aptly entitled Bobby Collins: Live from the State Theatre, will be available for purchase on the night of the show.

Music Director Marin Alsop and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) have announced the Orchestra's 2016-2017 season, its tenth season under the direction of Maestra Alsop.

James Naughton hosted, wrote & directed the current offering of the 92Y Lyrics & Lyricists presentation titled Battle of The Airwaves! When The Songbook Met Rock & Country. Some years ago when Tony Award-winning actress (for For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf (Ntozake Shange) and playwright Trezanna Beverley's voice coach suggested she listen to Mabel Mercer, the artist had not heard of the nightclub and cabaret singing icon. A trip to the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (Harlem) began a protracted period of research into Mercer's life and work. Beverley found she not only respected and admired her subject, but felt a kinship both in spirit and color. Inspired, she decided to write her own theatrical script about Mercer's life and art with the goal of playing her in a one-woman show. Her dream has been realized with Mabel Madness, a play with music that opened this week at Urban Stages and runs until March 20.

Richard Shelton is giving fans exactly what they want with an encore performance at Bar 20 at The Grafton on Sunset on Monday, February 29 at 9:00 PM. Following sold-out shows there earlier this month, Richard is being asked back to one of Hollywood's swankiest lounges. He will perform with accompaniment by Brandon Covelli on keys.

CDI/Concert Dance, Inc. returns to Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), 3701 West Bryn Mawr, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Ruth Page Dance Series with A World of Dance, Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m.

Luckily the Sunshine Comedy Show at the Friars starts after the main course in The Frank Sinatra dining Room. Comics are an impediment for the healthy digestion of a meal. I don't think that there has ever been a person that has been in the Friars club who has not shared a laugh or left the Monastery not smiling. That in itself is a huge accomplishment, but the Friars do so much more than entertain themselves and enjoy their camaraderie. The Friar's Club Sunshine Committee (Tom DeBow chairman) is to the Friars what Ronald McDonald House is to McDonald's-they bring a ray of sunshine to those who need it most!

Jeff Macauley loves Dinah Shore. That's usually the case when a cabaret performer devotes an entire show to a star's body of work. But there's affection and admiration, and then there's all-encompassing passion and adoration that informs the performer's every note, lyric, and anecdote, and thereby imparts that love to us (whether or not we were previously fans). By that standard, MWAH! The Dinah Shore Show, Macauley's 1998 Backstage Bistro Award Winner for 'Outstanding Theme Show' (revived last Saturday night as part of Stephen Hanks' monthly New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits series at the Metropolitan Room--is one of the most successful shows of its kind I've seen.

Back by popular demand, ON KENTUCKY AVENUE: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Historic Club Harlem returns to City College's performing arts center Aaron Davis Hall tonight, February 19, for a three-day encore engagement. The show, which shines a red-hot spotlight on a little-known piece of Black history, is presented by the City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and Byron and Sylvia Lewis. Judy Garland fans will be holding their breath for this collection. JSP Records has announced it will release in 2017 a 4-CD, 109-track set, produced by John Stedman, called JUDY GARLAND: CLASSIC DUETS, which will include 14 tracks never previously issued on CD.

Maurice Hines Tappin' Thru Life at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street) will play its final performance this Sunday, February 21st. At the time of closing the show will have played 21 previews and 46 performances.
