Legendary Comics enters the ring with creators Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas to bring readers Championess, a new graphic novel set for release in Fall 2020. Drawing inspiration from the real-life enigmatic boxer Elizabeth Wilkinson who challenged opponents by posting adverts in London newspapers in the early 1700s, this fictitious story follows 'the Championess of Europe' as she fights to gain notoriety in the male-dominated sport of bare-knuckle boxing, as well as struggles with her own racial identity. Netflix has secured the rights to an original pitch from writer Tom Wheeler (The Lego Ninjago Movie) currently entitled John Henry and The Statesmen, developed with Hiram Garcia, President of Production (Seven Bucks Productions). The film will be directed by Jake Kasdan and star Dwayne Johnson in a follow up to their incredibly successful Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

According to Deadline, Netflix is taking on a key character from the King Arthur legend, Lady of the Lake. The global streaming giant has teamed with comic book writer/artist Frank Miller (Sin City) and writer/producer Tom Wheeler (Puss In Boots) for original drama series Cursed. Netflix has given a 10-episode order to the project, which will be based on Miller and Wheeler's upcoming illustrated young adult book of the same name.
