On July 3, 2014 at 8 p.m. in front of Independence Hall, The Philly POPS® is proud to present Conductor Larry Blank, who will be standing in for Peter Nero, with guest soloist Capathia Jenkins to perform a free, patriotic celebration in honor of America's birthday. The concert is part of the Wawa Welcome America! Festival -- the nation's largest, free 4th of July festival.

From One Singular Sensation to The Way We Were, composer Marvin Hamlisch left a legacy of hits that have brightened Broadway and the musical catalogue of America forever. And so, The Philly POPS presented 'Marvin Hamlisch - A Musical Tribute' conducted by Larry Blank, Hamlisch's conductor, and three of his favorite singers: Donna McKechnie, Jodi Benson and Doug LaBrecque. The tribute took place on Friday, March 14-16 in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center. Blank and the guest artists not only presented wonderful musical memories with the audience, but they shared personal recollections of Marvin Hamlisch as well. The Philly POPS opens its 2013-14 season with the theme 'Viva Philadelphia!' - a celebration of the City and of Philadelphia's Italian spirit as well as a demonstration of the maestro's special love for vocal music. It's a fitting theme, as the new maestro celebrates the City that will be another POPS home for this nationally recognized conductor. It's also fitting as this first series of The POPS 35th season falls on Columbus weekend, a time of special significance in a city with a rich Italian heritage. With performances tonight, October 11 through Sunday October 13, POPS concerts will continue to be presented in a series of Friday evenings at 8 p.m., followed by Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. at Verizon Hall of the KimMel Center for the Performing Arts on Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Encore Series, Inc., presenter of Peter Nero and The Philly POPS®, today announced Michael Krajewski, the principal pops conductor of the Houston Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, will be the guest conductor of the Bond and Beyond concert series on April 26, 27, 28, 2013. Maestro Krajewski replaces the late Marvin Hamlisch, who was slated to guest conduct the series.

Encore Series, Inc., presenter of Peter Nero and The Philly POPS®, today announced a new, choose-your-own ticket subscription package for its 2012/2013 Season. The special series packages will allow fans to purchase tickets to see three series of their choice, with the option to add Holiday POPS.

Encore Series, Inc./Peter Nero and the Philly Pops® elected five new members to its Board of Directors at its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, August 19, 2009. D. Walter Cohen, D.D.S., of Philadelphia, PA, began his tenure as chairman of the Board immediately following the Annual Meeting. Salvatore M. DeBunda, shareholder and co-managing partner of Archer & Greiner, P.C., of Blue Bell, PA, was also nominated as vice chairman of the Board.
