Steppenwolf's THE HERD Begins Tonight in Chicago

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents the U.S. premiere production of The Herd, a deftly comic play by Rory Kinnear. Directed by ensemble member and Tony Award-winning director Frank Galati, the cast features ensemble members Francis Guinan, John Mahoney, Molly Regan and Lois Smith with Cliff Chamberlain and Audrey Francis. The Herd premiered at London's Bush Theatre in 2013. The Herd begins previews tonight, April 2, 2015 (Opening night is April 12, 2015; Press performances are April 11 at 3pm and April 14 at 7:30pm) and runs through June 7, 2015 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St).

Olympia Dukakis, Bill Irwin & Carey Perloff Set for 'Why Theater Matters' Panel at 92Y Tonight

A panel of theater's great advocates and innovators-Carey Perloff, artistic director of San Francisco's legendary American Conservatory Theater, whose new book is Beautiful Chaos; the multiple award-winning actor, director and producer Olympia Dukakis; and Bill Irwin (who won a Tony Award for his appearance as George in the revival of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf and received the first ever New Victory Arts Award for 'bringing the arts to kids and the kids to arts')-join former New York Times theater critic Margo Jefferson for an evening of enlightened and inspiring discussion about why theater matters and how theater fits into today's tech-infused world.

Asolo Repertory Theatre's OUR BETTERS Begins Tonight

Before there was Downton Abbey, there was Our Betters, W. Somerset Maugham's fiery romantic dramedy about the invasion of sly social-climbing American heiresses into British society. The fifth play in the third season of Asolo Rep's five-year American Character Project illuminates a sect of wealthy, early 20th-century American women who yearned for the pomp and circumstance - and parties - of the British nobility. Directed by Asolo Rep's producing artistic director Michael Donald Edwards, Our Betters opens Friday, March 13, 2015 at 8pm and runs through Sunday, April 19 at Asolo Rep, with previews tonight, March 11 and Thursday, March 12 at 8pm.

Arden Theatre Company continues its 27th season of great stories with Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Alexander Burns directs. Macbeth runs from tonight, March 5, 2015 - April 19, 2015, on the Arden's F. Otto Haas Stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia.
