Yet in recent years, the world has seen many conflicts and struggles, witnessed numerous wars, and experienced much loss of life as a result. With a program that is keenly relevant to our own turbulent time, the Houston Chamber Choir offers a poignant reflection on the tragic cost of armed conflict, as well as a renewed call for world peace and understanding.

After 16 years, the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University welcomes back Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) to Chicago as part of its 125th Anniversary Season celebration, November 21 - 23, 2014.

Millersville University faculty members Drs. Anita Renfroe and Xun Pan will perform together in a concert of music written for two pianos tonight, Oct. 4, 7:30 p.m., at the Ware Center of Millersville University in Lancaster. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

This season, a new group of eighteen musicians -- some of the finest professional players in the world -- will join Ensemble ACJW, a two-year fellowship program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. Ensemble ACJW is designed to prepare young professional musicians for careers that combine musical excellence with teaching, community engagement, advocacy, and leadership. It offers performance opportunities, year-long partnerships within New York City public schools, and intensive professional development.

'Cherubino is crazy in some ways, in good ways,' says Isabel Leonard, who is singing the role of the young male page in the Almaviva household in the Metropolitan Opera's new Richard Eyre production of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO. 'He sees everything in Technicolor, eyes wide open, taking everything in, not missing a second that he could possibly enjoy in his life.”'

Millersville University faculty members Drs. Anita Renfroe and Xun Pan will perform together in a concert of music written for two pianos on Oct. 4, 7:30 p.m., at the Ware Center of Millersville University in Lancaster. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster. The concert, "Fantastic Conversations," will include music by Mozart (the Sonata in D, K. 448), Schubert (Fantasie in F Mino), and Bach, and 20th-century composers Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc and William Elden Bolcom.

Wenzel Fuchs, principal clarinetist of the Berliner Phillharmoniker, will appear in a program of classical music at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center at Millersville University on Wednesday evening, Oct. 8. The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Ave, Millersville. Fuchs is considered to be one of the most exciting clarinetists in the world today. He has appeared with such eminent conductors as Daniel Barenboim, Herbert Blomstedt, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Simon Rattle and Franz Welser-Most.

On Sunday, September 3, Steven Blier, Artistic Director of the New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) will present an afternoon with two powerhouse musicians, Julia Bullock (soprano) ano Joseph Kaisef (tenor).

Last week, The Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) presented a classic but eclectic program of four ballets at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. To my surprise, they gave me something I could feel. The performance reminded me that ballet can be fun, art should be communal and a coloratura soprano singing 'Domine Deus, Rex caelestis' is just as electrifying as James Brown singing 'Mother Popcorn.'

The Opera Theatre of St. Louis has opened the fourth production in its June festival season--'The Dialogues of the Carmelites', by Francis Poulenc. The cast features some St. Louis favorites: Kelly Kaduce, who gave us that jaw-dropping Salome five years ago, now plays a much timider leading lady-Sr. Blanche of the Agony of Jesus. And the wonderful Christine Brewer sings the role of the New Prioress.

Robert Simpson, Artistic Director and Founder of the Houston Chamber Choir is pleased to announce the Chamber Choir's 19th season: The Voices of Houston. Each of this season's offerings highlights the Houston Chamber Choir's multi-talented musicians in a wide range of diverse choral repertoire. 'The Voices of Houston' is a season of thrilling firsts as the Houston Chamber Choir welcomes Grammy Award-winning conductor Paul Hillier to Houston for the first time, celebrates its inaugural performance with the Houston Ballet, and makes its Miller Outdoor Theatre debut.

Dance Against Cancer raised more than $200,000 for the American Cancer Society on Monday, May 5, 2014. Proceeds from the evening will benefit research initiatives and patient and family service programs. More than 500 guests attended the fourth annual Dance Against Cancer. VIP guests enjoyed cocktails, preferred seating, and a gift bag in addition to the performance and post-event reception. The performance featured new work by Brian Reeder created for American Ballet Theatre's Isabella Boylston with New York City Ballet's Chase Finlay and Amar Ramasar, Paul Taylor Dance Company in its first appearance at the benefit, Charles 'Lil Buck' Riley performed with students from National Dance Institute, and included the NYC premiere of Justin Peck's Sea Change. To jumpstart their 50th anniversary at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, the New York City Ballet began their Spring season not looking back but rather looking forward, presenting works from 21st century choreographers and showcasing the Company's ever-evolving mastery of their art.

Interim General Director Plato Karayanis and Artistic Director Tobias Picker announce OPERA San Antonio's inaugural season as the Resident Opera Company of the new Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. OPERA San Antonio will present three new productions for the 2014-15 season: Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr. Fox, Richard Strauss's Salome and a double bill of Ermanno Wolf- Ferrari's Il segreto di Susanna and La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc.

The Virginia Arts Festival presents Dance Theatre of Harlem on May 17 and 18 in Norfolk and Richard Alston Dance Company on May 21 and 23 in Norfolk and Williamsburg in this year's Dance Series. The 2014 Festival features two world-class companies who have rewritten the rules for these art forms.
