Interim General Director Plato Karayanis and Artistic Director Tobias Picker announce OPERA San Antonio's inaugural season as the Resident Opera Company of the new Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. OPERA San Antonio will present three new productions for the 2014-15 season: Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr. Fox, Richard Strauss's Salome and a double bill of Ermanno Wolf- Ferrari's Il segreto di Susanna and La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc.
The Virginia Arts Festival presents Dance Theatre of Harlem on May 17 and 18 in Norfolk and Richard Alston Dance Company on May 21 and 23 in Norfolk and Williamsburg in this year's Dance Series. The 2014 Festival features two world-class companies who have rewritten the rules for these art forms.

River Oaks Chamber Orchestra concludes its 2013 – 2014 ROCO Chamber Series on Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m. with a concert titled French Salonat Gremillion &Co. Fine Art Annex located at 2504 Nottingham. The performance, which showcases several French composers, incorporates works written for the oboe, bassoon and piano. The concert includes a co-commissioned premiere by John Steinmetz and music by Francis Poulenc, Theodore Lalliet and Stanislas Verroust. Ms. Dessay and Mr. Cassard recently released an acclaimed recording of Debussy's works in 2012 (Virgin Classics), two of which are featured in this program-'Apparition,' and 'La romance d'Ariel.' Experience the poetry-in-motion of the legendary Dance Theatre of Harlem, as they headline NJPAC's Martin Luther King celebration today, January 17th in Prudential Hall. The renowned ballet company was co-founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell and the late Karel Shook as a positive and uplifting way to turn despair into hope following the assassination of Dr. King. Mitchell was the first African-American principal dancer at the New York City Ballet, and Karel Shook, had been the first teacher and ballet master of the Dutch National Ballet. Mitchell began by founding a dance school and later a company that would bring new opportunity to the lives of young people in the Harlem neighborhood in which he grew up.

Today, October 21 marks the release of HERE/AFTER: Songs of Lost Voices, a two-CD set of recent songs and music by Jake Heggie, 'the finest American art song composer of his generation' (John von Rhein, Classical Review), to texts by the Grammy Award-nominated Gene Scheer. The generous PentaTone Classics collection features more than two hours of music from the composer and librettist of the operas Moby-Dick and Three Decembers, with performances by some of the foremost exponents of their work, including soprano Talise Trevigne, mezzo Joyce DiDonato, tenor Stephen Costello, baritone Nathan Gunn, flutistCarol Wincenc, and the Alexander String Quartet. Recorded at LucasFilm's Skywalker Ranch and produced by Grammy Award-winner Steve Barnett,HERE/AFTER seeks to give voice to silenced individuals whose stories deserve to be heard, including victims and survivors of 9/11 (Pieces of 9/11) and the great French sculptor Camille Claudel (Camille Claudel: Into the Fire).
