Iconic stage and screen actress and Academy Award and Tony Award nominee Kathleen Turner returns to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater to star in Joan Didion's one-woman drama The Year of Magical Thinking, adapted from her 2005 bestselling memoir of the same title.

Yale Repertory Theatre, celebrating 50 years of daring artists, bold choices, and adventurous audiences, presents the world premiere of Scenes from Court Life, or the whipping boy and his prince by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Mark Wing-Davey, now through October 22 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). Folger Theatre's season opener SENSE AND SENSIBILITY tells the story that Austen fans love, but ultimately suffers from too many comedic and stylistic additions that create a lack of balance within the production.

Kate Hamill's fresh adaptation of the Jane Austen classic SENSE AND SENSIBILITY made its DC premiere at the Folger Theatre on September 13th. Director Eric Tucker and Choreographer Alexandra Beller took time out of their busy schedules to answer my questions on the emphasis on movement and choreography on the production and how it brings new life to the beloved Austen novel for audiences of today.

Monday, September 19, 2016 - New Jersey Repertory Company, located at 179 Broadway in Long Branch, is proud to announce the new comedy MAD LOVE by Marisa Smith, the Author of 'Saving Kitty'. Sloane Hudson, a wealthy, beautiful recent Ivy League graduate and product of the campus hook-up culture and frat basement pong tournaments, doesn't believe in love or marriage. She does, however, believe in babies and wants one soon so her tummy can bounce back and she can still wear a bikini. The problem is she needs a sperm donor who passes muster. Enter Brandon, who has all the right stats, but the wrong attitude. Brandon, meantime, has enough on his plate living with his brother Doug, who just fell in love with Katerina, the hooker from the Ukraine. Cabbage soup, a rare baseball card and a lizard named Pogo all play a part in this romantic comedy for cynical times.

Folger Theatre's 2016/17 season kicks off with an inspired stage adaptation of one of literature's most cherished novels, Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. This all-new production of the critically acclaimed play is adapted by Kate Hamilland directed by the Wall Street Journal's Director of the Year (2014), Eric Tucker, Artistic Director of Bedlam Theater in New York. This DC premiere at the Folger breathes new life into the 200-year old favorite with a whimsical and theatrical staging. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Arden Theatre Company opens its 29th season with Aaron Posner's STUPID f**kING BIRD, 'sort of' adapted from Anton Checkov's The Seagull. Posner, an Arden co-founder and former Artistic Director who has directed nearly 40 productions for the company, also directs his show for the first time. STUPID f**kING BIRD runs September 15 through October 16, 2016, on the F. Otto Haas Stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Broadway director Jack Hofsiss passed away yesterday, September 13. He was 66 years old.
