First Lady Honors Washington Pavilion's Action Arts & Science Program and More

Chofian (JuJu) Abokbar age 17, and Rose Ann Hofland, Director of the Washington Pavilion Community Learning Center, went to the White House today, November 17 to receive an award from First Lady Michelle Obama on behalf of the Washington Pavilion's Action Arts & Science Program (AASP), which was recognized for its effectiveness in promoting learning and life skills in young people by engaging them in the creative youth development programs. STAGE TUBE: Watch FUN HOME & FINDING NEVERLAND Casts Perform at Broadway at the White House!

Just yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama called upon producer Harvey Weinstein to create 'Broadway at the White House,' an all day symposium on careers in the theater created especially for deserving high school students. The day was hosted by Matthew Morrison, currently starring in Broadway's Finding Neverland and Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth and included such Broadway stars as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Whoopi Goldberg, Gloria Estefan, Christian Borle, Cicely Tyson, Laura Michelle Kelly and performances by the casts of Finding Neverland, Fun Home, An American in Paris, On Your Feet!, School of Rockand Something Rotten. First Lady Michelle Obama Honors Rosie's Theater Kids at the White House Today

Today, November 17th, Marianna Bottier, 15-years-old, of New York City, will visit the White House to receive an award from First Lady Michelle Obama on behalf of Rosie's Theater Kids (RTKids), which will be recognized for its effectiveness in promoting learning and life skills in young people by engaging them in the creative youth development programs. The RTKids ACTE II (A Commitment to Excellence) scholarship program will receive the 2015 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, the nation's highest honor for these programs.

Harlem Quartet Makes VPAC Debut Tonight

The HARLEM QUARTET, praised for its 'panache' by The New York Times, is 'bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent,' says the Cincinnati Enquirer. This unique Salon experience will be found on the VPAC stage tonight, November 5, as the ensemble invites 200 audience members to join them onstage for a rare, intimate performance of their classical and jazz program.
