For the Almeida Theatre's 2009 Summer Festival (8 July - 1 August 2009) the Yorkshire based Slung Low, The TEAM (Theater of the Emerging American Moment) from New York, GULP and Tiata Fahodzi have been invited to collaborate with the Almeida at its home base in Islington and the surrounding area. In addition, the Festival will present a concert by Heather Christian, an Installation by Lu Kemp and a concert celebrating African music presented by Tiata Fahodzi. Casting for Tiata Delights 08, the six new plays presented by the British African Theatre Company Tiata Fahodzi during their summer residency at the Almeida, includes Cathy Tyson, Ellen Thomas and Cyril Nri who are joined by Jenny Jules, last at the Almeida in The Homecoming, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Danny Sapani, who played alongside her in Big White Fog.
For its annual summer festival of contemporary opera, music and theatre, the Almeida Theatre will present a programme which includes the London premiere of An Ocean of Rain, a specially commissioned opera by Yannis Kyriakides and Daniel Danis, the European premiere of Adam Rapp's Nocturne and British African Theatre Company Tiata Fahodzi's first week long residency at the Almeida.
