Left Bank Writers Retreat in Paris Announces Better-with-a-friend Discount for June

Now in its seventh year, the Left Bank Writers Retreat in Paris draws on the café and salon model that evoked creativity in author Ernest Hemingway and his friends, finding inspiration in camaraderie. To encourage that spirit of creative sharing, the six-day combination writing workshop and literary tourism experience held annually in Paris, France, has announced a new 'better-with-a-friend referral discount' for its June 11-16, 2017, session, offering $250 off the $1,999 tuition for a friend referred by a Left Bank Writers Retreat attendee - and $250 off for the writer who does the referring.

BWW Review: A MOVEABLE FEAST's Sumptuous Supper, Song, and Story at Café Nordo

Welcome to the world of Ernest Hemingway's Paris in the 1920's. Just like with any of the Cafe Nordo shows, the instant you walk into Nordo's Culinarium you're transported to another time and place but they seem to have outdone themselves with their current collaboration with Book-It Theatre with "A Moveable Feast" and the rich sensorial delights they've concocted.

A New Collection of Poems by One the Greatest Ukrainian Poets of the Twentieth Century Pavlo Tychyna Published by Glagoslav Publications

With his innovative poetics, deep spirituality and creative word play, Tychyna deserves a place among the pantheon of his European contemporaries such as T.S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, Rainer Maria Rilke, Federico Garcia Lorca, and Osip Mandelstam. His early collections such as Clarinets of the Sun (1918) mark the pinnacle of his creativity and poetically document the emotional and spiritual toll of the Revolution of 1917 as well as the Civil War and its aftermath in Ukraine. John Fizer has noted Tychyna's close affinity with Walt Whitman's cosmism, particularly in his cycle In the Orchestra of the Cosmos. While Tychyna in many ways displays the moral conscience of his times in his early works, later in his life he acquiesced to Soviet authorities in order to survive the horrors of Stalin's regime. He was forced by authorities to refuse a nomination for the Nobel Prize, the only reason for which would have been his Ukrainian ethnicity. This edition of Tychyna's complete early works includes translations of all his major early collections as well as his poetic masterpieces 'Mother was Pealing Potatoes,' 'Funeral of My Friend,' and his highly patriotic 'In Memory of the Thirty.' The volume includes a guest introduction by prominent Ukrainian poet Viktor Neborak.

Photo Flash: Passion, Music, and Delectable Food in A MOVEABLE FEAST

In an artistic collaboration with Cafe Nordo in Pioneer Square, a four-course meal will deliciously underscore a signature Book-It theatrical experience. Ernest Hemingway's A Moveable Feast captures what it meant to be young and poor and writing in Paris during the 1920s.
