OTHER WORLD, a new musical with an original score and story by Tony Award Nominee Hunter Bell (book), Obie Award winner Jeff Bowen (music and lyrics), and singer-songwriter and author Ann McNamee (music and lyrics) will have an invitation-only developmental lab presentation on Thursday, February 15 and Friday, February 16 at Jerome Robbins Theatre at Baryshnikov Arts Center, 450 W. 37th Street.

Theatre by the Sea recently opened its production of West Side Story. Celebrating the multi cultural spirit of this show, Roberto Araujo (Pepe u/s Bernardo and Chino) directs and choreographs this music video to Gloria Estefan's 'Oye!'. WEST SIDE STORY, the classic retelling of Romeo and Juliet set in New York City places our star-crossed lovers on either side of a turf war between rival gangs.  It's a play so iconic and so familiar that even if one hasn't actually seen it, he or she has likely heard the songs and knows the names of Sharks and Jets.  Even if you've seen it 100 times, it's very worth stopping by Theatre by The Sea for another viewing.  Sometimes a show is practically perfect and doesn't need much tinkering, but skilled direction, choreography and costumes can still elevate a classic to new heights.

The beloved classic West Side Story, which transports Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to the streets of the Upper West Side in 1950's NYC, is set to open November 7 and run through November 23, 2014 at the Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens.
