Today's big news: MERCURY FUR and DROP DEAD PERFECT start off-Broadway, OCTOBER SKY hits the Windy City stage, and the Industry Dance Awards recognize Broadway talent!

Hot on the high heels of last year's acclaimed sold-out production, the madcap comedy DROP DEAD PERFECT, starring the legendary Everett Quinton returns to the Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46 Street - between 8th and 9th Avenues) for a limited 8-week engagement Off-Broadway with an opening set for Sunday, August 23rd.   Previews begin Wednesday, August 19th. With overwhelming rave reviews, critic picks, and audience accolades, DROP DEAD PERFECT is directed by Joe Brancato and written by Erasmus Fenn. Red Bull Theater will present the penultimate Revelation Reading of the season, Richard Brinsley Sheridan's The School for Scandal, directed by Marc Vietor, with musical direction by Brian Trenis. The School for Scandal will feature Charles Busch, Everett Quinton, and Paxton Whitehead, along with Bill Army, Helen Cespedes, Alan Coates, Christian DeMarais, Peter Eyre, Kevin Isola, Richard Holmes, Amelia Pedlow, Gayle Rankin, Derek Smith, and more.  One night only - Monday, June 29th at Cherry Lane Theater (38 Commerce Street).

Synetic Theater will host a Pride Night in partnership with Freddie's Beach Bar at 555 23RD St. in Crystal City. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-show reception and will continue at Synetic Theater with the 8 p.m. performance of Everett Quinton's Obie Award-Winning play A Tale of Two Cities, directed by Serge Seiden and starring Company Member Alex Mills.

Casting is now complete for Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW production of Shaw's rarely produced, Fanny's First Play, on Monday, June 22 at 7pm, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2895 Broadway at 95th St.).

Overall, there's much to like about this production. The acting alone is worth the ticket price.

This season's mainstage production, John Ford's 'Tis Pity She's A Whore, directed by Red Bull Artistic Director Jesse Berger, will begin a limited Off-Broadway engagement tonight, Tuesday April 14th at The Duke on 42nd Street. Opening Night is set for Sunday April 26th. Performances continue through May 16th.

New Brew Performs Select Scenes From: The Curse of the Rat King: Trav S.D. (libretto) and David Mallamud (music) have been collaborating on this campy comic opera since 2010. It is a post-modern mash-up of Universal horror films, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, the operas of Gilbert and Sullivan, the writings of Sigmund Freud, and numerous other elements. On the bill with him will be selections from Three Way, by David Cote (libretto) and Robert Paterson (music), which has been described as “a kind of NC-17 Il trittico”, and two works with lyrics by UTC#61's Edward Einhorn: The Velvet Oratorio (music by Henry Akona) and Money Lab (music by Avner Finberg).

Independent Curators International (ICI), Pratt Manhattan Gallery, and Franklin Furnace will present Knowledge Carnival, a series of student performances developed in Professor Karen Finley's class titled Creative Response: Performance Matters, held at the Department of Art and Public Policy, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Martha Wilson, founding director of Franklin Furnace, invited the burgeoning artists to present their work at Pratt Manhattan Gallery after visiting the class in fall 2014. Curated by Leonie Ettinger, the programming is inspired by Wilson's body of work and the myriad experimental performances embedded in Franklin Furnace's history.
