New Brew Presents SEX! COMEDY! ECONOMICS! AN EVENING WITH TRAV S.D. (AND FRIENDS) Tonight

New Brew Performs Select Scenes From: The Curse of the Rat King: Trav S.D. (libretto) and David Mallamud (music) have been collaborating on this campy comic opera since 2010. It is a post-modern mash-up of Universal horror films, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, the operas of Gilbert and Sullivan, the writings of Sigmund Freud, and numerous other elements. On the bill with him will be selections from Three Way, by David Cote (libretto) and Robert Paterson (music), which has been described as “a kind of NC-17 Il trittico”, and two works with lyrics by UTC#61's Edward Einhorn: The Velvet Oratorio (music by Henry Akona) and Money Lab (music by Avner Finberg).

NYU's KNOWLEDGE CARNIVAL Set for Today

Independent Curators International (ICI), Pratt Manhattan Gallery, and Franklin Furnace will present Knowledge Carnival, a series of student performances developed in Professor Karen Finley's class titled Creative Response: Performance Matters, held at the Department of Art and Public Policy, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Martha Wilson, founding director of Franklin Furnace, invited the burgeoning artists to present their work at Pratt Manhattan Gallery after visiting the class in fall 2014. Curated by Leonie Ettinger, the programming is inspired by Wilson's body of work and the myriad experimental performances embedded in Franklin Furnace's history.

Full Cast Announced for Red Bull's 'TIS PITY SHE'S A WHORE, Running This Spring

This season's mainstage production, John Ford's 'Tis Pity She's A Whore, directed by Red Bull Artistic Director Jesse Berger, will begin a limited Off-Broadway engagement April 14th at The Duke on 42nd Street. Opening Night is set for Sunday April 26th. Performances continue through May 16th.

Red Bull Theater to Present SHAKESPEARE AND THE JACOBEANS ON FILM in January

Red Bull Theater today announced a new three-part collaboration with the Shakespeare Society exploring Shakespeare and the Jacobeans on Film. The series includes a Shakespeare Society major member event (open to the public) and two film screenings. TWO BY TAVEL to Play Theater for the New City, 11/28-12/14

As a tribute to the memory of director Harvey Tavel, who originated the Theater of the Ridiculous with his brother, the playwright Ronald Tavel, Theater for the New City will present 'Two by Tavel,' a double-header of 'Kitchenette' and 'Life of Juanita Castro,' directed by Norman Glick, November 28 to December 14. These two ridiculous masterpieces, originally drafted as scenarios for Andy Warhol's Film Factory, found their way to the stage in 1965 when Warhol suggested that Ronald Tavel try them out as theater. The director Ronald chose was his younger brother, Harvey.
