General Gabler's Theatre (GGT)-a new Seattle-based theatre company specializing in the works of Henrik Ibsen-has announced its inaugural production. GGT will present Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen, translated by Eva Le Gallienne. The play runs from August 4-12, 2023 at West of Lenin in the Fremont neighborhood.

Veteran award-winning actor Ron Faber, whose Broadway appearances included “First Monday in October” with Henry Fonda and “Medea” with Irene Papas, died March 26 after a two-month battle with lung cancer. He was 90.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Burry Fredrik Foundation championing the growth and continuing health of Connecticut's non-profit professional producing theaters. Since 2012, the Foundation has granted over $3 million to a dozen Connecticut theaters with a proven track record of accomplishments. In 2022, $500,000 will be awarded. The Foundation was established by Burry Fredrik (1925-2012), a Tony Award-winning producer and noted director, who lived in Weston, CT.

Milwaukee Repertory Theater has announced of the passing of its founder Mary John (1925-2022).  Born in Green Bay, WI Mary forged a plan to create a professional theater for the city of Milwaukee and established Drama Inc, now Milwaukee Repertory Theater, in 1954.

Celebrating the stories of statue-worthy women are seven new plays in monologue form that will be performed virtually on Friday, June 18 at 7 pm (EDT) as a part of Put A Woman On A Pedestal, a StatueFest of theatrical works.

A Noise Within (ANW) will premiere their filmed staging of ALICE IN WONDERLAND streaming May 27, 2021. This Lewis Carroll classic, adapted by Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus, was actually the last live production mounted on the ANW stage when theatres shut down last March. Stephanie Shroyer, who directed and conceived this Spring 2020 production, graciously agreed to answer a few of my queries.

A Noise Within will release its second high-quality film of a stage production this spring: Alice in Wonderland—remounting the beloved production from Spring 2020—written by Eva Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus and originally directed and conceived by Stephanie Shroyer.

Put a Woman on a Pedestal will honor two dozen women with statues in a virtual evening of original monologues. Statue-worthy women will be the subjects of six plays in monologue form on Friday, May 21 at 7 pm (EDT) on Zoom.

Six playwrights depict their choices of statue-worthy women in StatueFest Two on Friday, April 16 at 7 pm EDT in a series of monologues. The readings, on Zoom, are part of a series to Put A Woman On A Pedestal.

On Friday, March 19 at 7 pm (EDT) monologues by six playwrights will be seen in the world premiere of Put a Woman On A Pedestal, an on-line StatueFest of readings by Pauline David-Sax, Renee' Flemings, Allison Fradkin, Judith Pratt, Laura Shamas and Lucy Wang.
