New Federal Theatre Presents Annual Ntozake Shange Readings Series

Woodie King's New Federal Theatre has set four plays for the June, 2019 edition of its Annual Ntozake Shange Readings Series. The series will run four Tuesdays--June 4, 11, 18 and 25--with all readings at Castillo Theatre, 543 W 42nd Street.

The Classical Theatre of Harlem (Ty Jones, Producing Artistic Director) presents "The Bacchae" inspired by Bryan Doerries' new version of Euripides' classic Greek tragedy. CAMP ROCK Star Meaghan Martin Will Star In THE ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE At Park Theatre

Camp Rock star Meaghan Martin is set to make her professional stage debut in Tony Award-winning playwright Christopher Durang's dark comedy The Actor's Nightmare. The piece, especially curated from a selection of Durang's shorts by 3 hearts canvas into a cohesive, stand-alone piece, explores different areas of the entertainment industry through biting satire and surreal comedy. The production runs from 16th July - 10th August 2019, with the official press night being held on Friday 19th July at 7pm.

National Endowment for the Arts Acting Chairman Mary Anne Carter has approved more than $80 million in grants as part of the Arts Endowment's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2019. 

The Santa Fe Opera Announces 2020 Season

General Director Robert K. Meya today announced two new world premiere operas commissioned by the Santa Fe Opera. Huang Ruo and David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly will open on August 1, 2020.

The Finborough Theatre's summer season features two world premieres from female playwrights - a new play written and directed by the first woman ever to direct at the National Theatre, and a debut play from a brand new American dramatist - alongside another classic Finborough rediscovery from one of the greatest theatrical figures of the 19th century, unseen in London for over 120 years. We also bring you the eleventh consecutive year of our annual celebration of new writing, Vibrant 2019 - A Festival of Finborough Playwrights, giving us a chance to share with you just a few of the exceptional writers we have developed, nurtured and championed over the last year.

The Shed Opens This Friday With Specially Commissioned New Works

The Shed, New York City's new arts center dedicated to commissioning, develops, and presents original works of art, across all disciplines, for all audiences, will open to the public on April 5 with the world premiere of Soundtrack of America. The five-night concert series, conceived and directed by Steve McQueen with a creative team led by Quincy Jones and Maureen Mahon, celebrates the unrivaled impact of African American music on contemporary culture with performances by a new generation of artists. A free live stream of the April 5 concert will be available on The Shed's website, TheShed.org, and its social media channels.

OPERA America Awards $100,000 In Discovery Grants For Female Composers
