A special highlight of the 2016-2017 New York Live Arts season is its annual interdisciplinary humanities festival Live Ideas. For the 2017 edition, Mx'd Messages, trans-genre artist Mx Justin Vivian Bond curates a series examining the idea of a world without binaries.

Mx Justin Vivian Bond is a force of nature with more than a quarter century onstage under v's (Bond's preferred pronoun) belt. A singular performer with an endless supply of bon mots, Bond has been celebrated with an Obie Award, a Bessie, a Tony nod, and the Ethyl Eichelberger Award, among other accolades. Fresh off a year-long career retrospective culminating in September's THE GOLDEN AGE OF JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND, v returns to Joe's Pub on December 12 at 9:30pm with a new holiday show, THE BIPOLAR EXPRESS. Ahead of the first show, we spoke over the phone about the show, v's enduring career, and the holidays themselves.

Since their inception in 2009, the Platform series, Danspace Project's signature curatorial initiative, has 'given dance presentation a makeover.' (The New York Times). Conceived by Danspace Project Executive Director and Chief Curator Judy Hussie-Taylor as exhibitions that unfold over time, Platforms are multi-week series of performances and events, organized by guest curators, that act as deep inquiries into artistic practice and concerns. Ten Platforms have been held to date, each accompanied by a print catalogue.

Iconic performer, writer, artist and activist Mx Justin Vivian Bond will close out an epic yearlong retrospective of v's 25 year career at Joe's Pub at The Public with a new show called The Golden Age of Justin Vivian Bond, September 7-10 at 9:00PM, and a tribute concert, Trans/Art/Family: The VIVification of NYC, on September 11 at 8:00PM.
