The Washington Ballet Comes to Harman Center for the Arts

From October 31 - November 4 at The Harman Center for the Arts in the heart of the nation's capital, The Washington Ballet will showcase its range of abilities and depth of versatility in an extraordinary program that pays tribute to the 20th century's most accomplished American modern choreographers. Contemporary Masters will include iconic works by three of the greatest influencers of modern American dance, Mark Morris, Merce Cunningham and Paul Taylor.  

The Washington Ballet Open 2018.19 Season at the Kennedy Center

The Washington Ballet opened their 2018.19 Season at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theatre last night to a full house of delighted fans and patrons. TWB Welcomes included acclaimed highlights from choreographer George Balanchine as well as iconic masterworks by Alexei Ratmansky and Marius Petipa. The company also played host to four internationally recognized stars of the dance world who shared the stage as special guest artist alongside TWB dancers.  

The Washington Ballet Opens 2018/19 Season With International Guest Artists & Expanded Program

The Washington Ballet is excited to launch its season opener TWB Welcomes at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. The program, which includes acclaimed highlights from choreographers Alexei Ratmansky and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, as well as iconic masterworks (likeSerenade and Les Sylphides), provides a highly curated production that defines ballet as an art form over the last century. TWB Welcomes is named so because the company will play host to the audience and also welcome internationally recognized stars of the dance world who will share the stage as guest artists alongside TWB dancers.

PA Ballet Concludes Season With Two Spring Programs

=Pennsylvania Ballet and Artistic Director Angel Corella are proud to present Grace & Grandeur, which includes Angel Corella's restaging of Marius Petipa's Paquita, Christopher Wheeldon's For Four, and George Balanchine's Theme and Variations, running April 5 - 8 at the Merriam Theater. George Balanchine's Jewels will close out the 54th Season, May 10 - 13 at the Academy of Music. Jewels is sponsored by Alger, and the opening night is sponsored by LAGOS.

The School Of American Ballet (SAB) held it's annual alumni cocktail reception on June 2, 2017. The SAB event was held at it's Lincoln Center location and was attended by many of it's illustrious alumni.  SAB is one of the most famous classical ballet schools in the world and is the school of George Balanchine's New York City Ballet, a leading international ballet company based at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The school trains students from the age of six, with professional vocational ballet training for students aged 11-18.

The Washington Ballet (TWB) presents the world premiere of Ethan Stiefel's Frontier next month, a ballet inspired by President Kennedy and his space travel aspirations for America.

Kennedy Center Announces JFK Centennial Week

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced a weeklong celebration to honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of its namesake, the late President John F. Kennedy-whose 100th birthday would have been May 29, 2017. The Center kicked off its Centennial celebration last May, and by the end of 2017, will have presented a suite of more than 50 distinct programs inspired by five ideals often ascribed to President Kennedy: Courage, Freedom, Justice, Service, and Gratitude. Special performances fromMay 23-29, 2017 span theater programs, dance, music, and the return of the Center's popular Open House, which all memorialize the life and legacy of America's 35th President. Highlights include performances by DJ Spooky, Yo-Yo Ma with the National Symphony Orchestra, the world premieres of Kennedy Center commissions by composer Mason Bates and Company E, and special Open House performances by Bandaloop, Flexn, and others. Additional programs through 2017 will be announced at a future date.

Washington Ballet Premieres Historical Video Celebrating 40 Years, 1/10

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Washington Ballet performance company, the Ballet will premiere to the general public, a three-part video series that takes viewers on an emotional and inspirational look back at the people and creative works that have come to define the professional dance company since its start in 1976.

Washington Ballet Announces FRONTIER as First Commissioned Work; Reaffirms Commitment to Live Orchestra

Artistic Director Julie Kent is pleased to announce details of her first-ever commissioned work, Frontier (working title), choreographed by Ethan Stiefel for The Washington Ballet. The work is inspired by President Kennedy and his aspirations for America as a leader of artistic, cultural and intellectual excellence. His historic May 25, 1961 "urgent needs" address to the United States Congress serves as the impetus for this work. This speech launched what became a legacy in U.S. space travel and exploration with a determination for the United States to be the first to land a man on the moon. The President and First Lady focused national attention on the role of the arts in a country and the need for a nation to represent itself through its art. They also encouraged the development of Washington as a cultural center. The President was an advocate for America's ability to educate and develop individuals in cultural, intellectual and artistic endeavors.

KC Ballet Welcomes New Company Members, Artistic Staff Addition

Kansas City Ballet Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced the appointment of six new members, Kelsey Hellebuyck, Emily Mistretta, Gustavo Ribeiro, Amaya Rodriguez, James Rogers, Kevin Wilson, and three new apprentices, Ivan Braatz, Sarah Joan Smith, and Katherine Sawicki to the Kansas City Ballet Company.

Faculty for 2016-17 School Year at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School Announced

Faculty for the 2016-17 school year at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (JKO) School was announced today by ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie and ABT JKO School Artistic Director Cynthia Harvey.  Joining the faculty this year as Principal Guest Instructor is former ABT Principal Dancer Ethan Stiefel.  Also returning to train the next generation of dancers is former ABT and New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, Robert La Fosse.  Both Stiefel and La Fosse will teach students in the ABT JKO Pre-Professional Division.
