Heartbeat Opera Announces 2019-2020 Season

HEARTBEAT OPERA announces its sixth season, featuring Heartbeat's hottest Drag Extravaganza yet with designer-extraordinaire Miodrag Guberinic riffing on the theme of Mother Earth; and two operatic masterpieces, reimagined, boldly staged, trimmed down, and re-orchestrated: Weber's DER FREISCH?oeTZ and Verdi's MACBETH (retitled LADY M). 

Art House Productions Presents NOT MEDEA

Art House Productions is proud to announce its winter mainstage production of Allison Gregory's Not Medea, directed by Adin Walker. Performances run, December 6,7,8, 13, 14, 15 at 8:00pm, and Sundays, December 9 and 16 at 3:00pm for a total of eight performances, with ASL and Audio Interpretation at the Friday, December 14th performance. Beginning at 6:30pm prior to the December 14th performance, the Art House Access Committee will host a free mixer for artists with and without disabilities. Wine and hors d'oeuvres included. In concurrence with Not Medea, the Art House Gallery will be open for its inaugural Affordable Art Show featuring over 75 fine art pieces all selling for $500 and under. Composer/Singer Marisa Michelson Premieres New Work At Judson

Recognized as a leading voice in choral and musical theatre composition, composer/theatre-maker/singer Marisa Michelson is hailed for writing and/or performing profound works with a rich tapestry of complicated choral and musical stylings. Michelson's 2018 season begins February 1-3, 2018, with the world premiere of The Desire/Divinity Project, a two-part musical piece featuring Michelson and her vocal performance ensemble, Constellation Chor, live orchestration, and dance choreographed by #Mamaisamaker's Emma Crane Jaster (Loft Opera). Directed by Ethan Heard (Heartbeat Opera) and originally choreographed by Chase Brock (currently by Emma Crane Jaster), this Project was developed by Michelson while researching mind/body/spirit practices with virtuosic singing as an artist-in-residence at Judson Memorial Church. Part One: Song of Songs of Songs explores the relationship between the sensual and the sacred, the body and the spirit, through an exegesis of the Western world's oldest erotic poem, Song of Songs.

Composer Marisa Michelson Continues As Leading Voice In Music-Theatre

Recognized as a leading voice in choral and musical theatre composition, composer/theatre-maker/singer Marisa Michelson is hailed for writing and/or performing profound works with a rich tapestry of complicated choral and musical stylings. The upcoming 2018 season cements her role as a vital contemporary artist with the world premiere of three works: The Desire/Divinity Project by Constellation Chor February 1-3, One Thousand Nights and One Day musical April 2-29, and Naamah's Ark oratorio featuring Tony Award winner Victoria Clark concluding The River to River Festival June 17. After its celebrated reinterpretations of Butterfly and Carmen last spring, HEARTBEAT OPERA the daring young company whose unconventional orchestrations and stagings of classic operas have been called 'a radical endeavor' by Alex Ross in The New Yorker launches its fourth season with its Annual Halloween Drag Extravaganza, this year titled ALL THE WORLD'S A DRAG! Shakespeare in love...with opera. Three performances take place at National Sawdust on October 30 at 7:30 p.m. and October 31 at 7.30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) is presenting the world premiere of 'F Theory,' a funny, poignant, and uniquely thought-provoking play about the power and complexity of lifelong friendship. The show is on the Long Branch Stage through September 24. Directed by Ethan Heard, the play is co-written by, and stars Megan Loughran and Alex Trow. BWW Review: F THEORY at NJ Rep Shines Bright with Humor and Heart

New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) is now presenting the World Premiere of F Theory from August 17 through September 24. The play is co-written by Megan Loughran and Alex Trow and enjoys superb direction by Ethan Heard. Loughran and Trow also star in this outstanding two-hander that captures a lifelong friendship with all of its ups and downs.
