Pilobolus Dance Theater Presents Two Unique Programs of American Premieres and Classic Works

The internationally acclaimed Pilobolus Dance Theater returns to NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, November 16 - December 4th, 2016, with two exhilarating programs mixing dance, physical theater, short film, and Pilobolus's surrealistic and magical physical language. The two unique programs will feature nine works, including the New York premieres of Thresh/Hold and Today Morning, 11:45, as well as revivals of Pilobolus classics Day 2 and Gnomen, and collaborations with Penn and Teller ([esc]) and alt-band OK Go (All is Not Lost).

The event will explore the evolution of the play; its fascinating historical setting; Englander's work in fiction versus theatre; and literature's place in modern American culture.

The Old Globe's West Coast Premiere of The Twenty-seventh Man by award-winning novelist Nathan Englander, directed by Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein, will now play an extra week of performances -- through March 22 -- due to ticket demand for the originally announced run. Tony and Emmy Award winner Hal Linden ("Barney Miller," The Rothschilds) leads a cast of Broadway and Globe veterans including Ron Orbach, Robert Dorfman, Eli Gelb, James Shanklin, and Lowell Byers. The Twenty-seventh Man will run February 14 through March 22 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run February 14-18. French Artist CESAR Returns in First U.S. Solo Show in 50 Years Today

Beginning today, November 1, 2013, Luxembourg & Dayan will presentCe?sar, an historical survey devoted to Ce?sar Baldaccini (1921– 1998), the celebrated French artist and founding member in 1960 of the Nouveaux Re?alistes group that paralleled the emergence of American Pop Art and included Yves Klein, Jean Tinguely, Christo, Martial Raysse, and Arman, among others. The exhibition comprises two-dozen works spanning the career of the artist known everywhere simply as 'Ce?sar,' and suggests his fundamental contribution to the evolution of modern sculpture through a radical rethinking of classicism and bold experiments with new materials. Featuring rare objects from the artist's estate, major museums, and important private collections, Ce?sar coincides with the 60th anniversary of theartist's first one-man exhibition, which took place at the Galerie Lucien Durand in Paris.
