MAN IN SNOW - the newest work by celebrated playwright Israel Horovitz (OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES) - will receive its New York premiere this fall at La MaMa's First Floor Theatre (77 E. 4 St.) with previews beginning November 11 prior to opening night November 14, 2016. Mr. Horovitz also directs the play.
Primary Stages hosted its 2016 Gala celebrating the Horton Foote Centennial last night, October 17, 2016 at 6:30 pm at 583 Park Avenue. The even twas chaired by CharLes Davis, HAllie Foote, David Richenthal and Michael Wilson, and featured performances and tributes by Elizabeth Ashley, Harriet Harris, Jayne Houdyshell, Estelle Parsons (pictured, left) and Molly Ringwald. A play with music, A Star Has Burnt My Eye is inspired by the extraordinary true story of Connie Converse. An unknown musician living in Greenwich Village in the early 1950s, Converse wrote and self-recorded original music-by turns beautiful, poetic, funny, and haunting-that was far ahead of its time. A quarter of a century later, long despairing of finding an audience for her art, Converse left goodbye letters that weren't quite suicide notes, and vanished.
