ANGELS IN AMERICA Opens at Signature Theatre, 10/28

Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) opens the first New York revival of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning epic work, ANGELS IN AMERICA: A GAY FANTASIA ON NATIONAL THEMES on October 28. The production will be directed by Michael Greif. ANGELS IN AMERICA is the first production of Signature's 20th Anniversary season, celebrating the works of Tony Kushner.

Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) presents the first New York revival of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, directed by Michael Greif. ANGELS IN AMERICA opens Thursday, October 28 at the Peter Norton Space (555 West 42nd Street). The play began previews on September 14. ORPHAN'S HOME CYCLE Abandons Broadway Aspirations

The New York Times has confirmed that THE ORPHAN'S HOME CYCLE will aim for a fall 2010 Broadway opening, as opposed to rushing the show in this spring, as we previously speculated. While the show had the opportunity to transfer from its current home Off-Broadway at the Signature Theatre into the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway for a spring opening, the producers and director Michael Wilson have opted to take the extra time to better prepare the show for the move.

Due to overwhelming demand, Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin) is pleased to announce a second extension for the first New York revival of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, directed by Michael Greif. The production, originally slated to run through December 19, 2010 and extended once through January 30, 2011, will now play an additional three weeks through Sunday, February 20, 2011.

RIALTO CHATTER: ORPHANS' to Find Home on Bway Spring '11?

BroadwayWorld previously reported that Horton Foote's THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE would aim for a Fall 2010 Broadway opening, rather than rush the show into Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre following its acclaimed Signature Theatre run. The Hartford Courant is now reporting that Foote's play is no longer being considered for a Fall 2010 opening: 'all the talk is about the spring.'

Quinto, Porter, Borle to Star in Signature's ANGELS IN AMERICA?

The New York Times is reporting that Zachary Quinto, known for his roles in HEROES and STAR TREK will appear as Louis Ironson and Broadway star Billy Porter will appear as Belize in the upcoming production of ANGELS IN AMERICA.

The season's first two productions include Parts 1 and 2 of the first New York revival of ANGELS IN AMERICA: A GAY FANTASIA ON NATIONAL THEMES, directed by Michael Greif; the New York premiere of iHo: THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES, also directed by Michael Greif and co-produced with The Public Theater; and THE ILLUSION, Kushner's freely adapted version of Pierre Corneille's L'Illusion Comique, directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer.

Signature Theatre Company has announced the final production for their 20th Anniversary 2010-2011 Season, celebrating the work of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner Tony Kushner. Joining the previously announced first New York Revival of Parts 1 and 2 of ANGELS IN AMERICA: A GAY FANTASIA ON NATIONAL THEMES and the New York premiere of THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL'S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES will be THE ILLUSION, Kushner's freely adapted version of Pierre Corneille's L'Illusion Comique, directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer. The production will be presented in Spring, 2011 at the Peter Norton Space, (555 West 42nd Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues). Dates and casting will be announced at a later date.
