It's another packed weekend on Midlands stages; plus JERSEY BOYS rolls through town early next week!

Jersey Boys is presented in a documentary-style format that dramatizes the formation, success and eventual breakup of The Four Seasons. When I last met up with these boys, it was during their return engagement at DPAC back in 2015. Since then, the Broadway production celebrated its 10th anniversary, closed up shop, and is now running Off-Broadway at New World Stages.

Winter seems to be creeping into Mississippi at the moment, but on November 10th, Jersey Boys brought all Four Seasons to the stage at Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson.

As of last fall, JERSEY BOYS has been seen on the stage by more than 25 million people around the world. So, is it really that good? Tough question. My first instinct is to say JERSEY BOYS ain't all that. It's a backstage, jukebox, rise-and-fall musical, a combination that ought to be the broadest, most formulaic thing you've ever seen. Yet, it surprises...

Good morning BroadwayWorld! Today's top stories includes tons of new Broadway casting! Jennifer Simard will join the cast of Mean Girls, Ryan McCartan joins Wicked, and Rosemary Harris joins My Fair Lady, all tonight!

Casting and tour dates have been announced for the 2018-19 touring season of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.  The cast will be led by Jonathan Cable (Nick Massi), Eric Chambliss (Bob Gaudio), Corey Greenan (Tommy DeVito) and Jonny Wexler (Frankie Valli) as The Four Seasons.

Producer Peter Dunn (So You Think You Can Belt, TRL: Total Request Live, Rise Up, GAYS: The Series) is teaming up with Samantha Rhea Parrish to produce a tribute show for music superstar, Ed Sheeran on Saturday June 9th at 10PM at The West End Lounge. The night is entitled Sheer Ed 2.0 and will be presented with a live band, phenomenal vocalists, and Ed's catalogue of music from new arrangements, to sizzling mashups, to emotional performances of his music. It will be a night of music, stories, heart and soul.

As previously announced, the critically acclaimed Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof will end its run on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2:00PM. This revival will have played a total of 463 performances when it gives its final bow. Just confirmed, a National Tour is planned beginning in the fall of 2018.

Four-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, She Loves Me, Chess, Les Miserables) joined the cast of Fiddler on the Roof as Golde last month and will play through the show's final performance on Saturday, December 31st. BroadwayWorld has a first look at Kuhn onstage below!

Four-time Tony Award Nominee Judy Kuhn(Fun Home, She Loves Me, Chess, Les Miserables) joins the cast of Fiddler on the Roof as Golde beginning tonight, Tuesday, November 22nd and will play through the show's final performance on Saturday, December 31st at 2:00 pm.  She takes over the role from Jessica Hecht whose final performance was on Sunday, November 20th.

Producers of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF have cancelled the Tuesday performance on October 11th, which falls out on the evening of Yom Kippur, to give company members who observe the holiday the ability to do so.

Along with the blaring burlesque trumpet that climaxes GYPSY's overture, the soft and hesitant sound of Fiddler on the Roof's opening fiddle solo that leads into Tevye's introduction of the people of Anatevka is among Broadway's most famous and beloved orchestral moments.

Though Herschel Bernardi's name was above the title on the opening nights of Broadway's BAJOUR and ZORBA, the musical theatre role he's most known for is one where he came in as a replacement, Teyve in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.

Two new videos preview her upcoming album, which will feature new solo music by Hall-Tompkins and the current FIDDLER ON THE ROOF revival's arranger Oran Eldor and music director/orchestrator Ted Sperling.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is a musical about traditions, but Silber's way of handing her role over may be completely new.

Fiddler on the Roof's Jessica Vosk haunted Tevye's last dream on August 7th, and Wicked's, Dee Roscioli assumes the role of Fruma-Sarah beginning tonight, August 11th at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway, at 53rd Street).
