Acclaimed children's author and illustrator, Eric Carle has delighted three generations of readers with his books featuring his distinctive collage art and iconic characters. His most famous book THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR which was first published in 1969, has sold more than 41 million copies worldwide. THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR SHOW will begin performances on January 30, and will celebrate its opening on Sunday, February 7, with an initial run through March 27, 2016 at the 47th Street Theatre (304 W 47th St.).
Penguin Young Readers to Match Donations to First Book

WASHINGTON, Nov. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ Children from low-income families can receive three times more books this holiday season, thanks to a partnership between the nonprofit social enterprise First Book and Penguin Young Readers. Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia will visit the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, February 20 and Friday, February 21 with three performances of their signature production, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites. The engagement includes two sold-out school performances at 10:30am on February 20 and 21, and a public performance at 6:30pm on Thursday, February 20. This one-hour production is recommended for ages three through second grade, and anyone who loves Eric Carle stories. The performance brings three of Carle's beloved stories to life through the magic of black light and fanciful puppets. The production was adapted, designed, and directed by Jim Morrow, with music by Steven Naylor and narration by Gordon Pinsent.
