Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts Announces 60th Anniversary 2014-15 Season

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College announces its 60th Anniversary Season of music, dance, theater, and family programming for 2014-15, reflecting the multicultural diversity of Brooklyn. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 12pm, with a special pre-sale period for Brooklyn Center Members beginning Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 12pm. Tickets can be purchased on Brooklyn Center's newly-launched website at BrooklynCenter.org or by calling the box office at 718-951-4500 (Tues-Sat, 1pm-6pm).

"Brooklyn Center's 60th Anniversary Season will help usher in a new era for our organization. From Flamenco to ballet, Latin jazz to rocking a cappella, and classic drama to family musicals, we will take our audiences on an adventure that celebrates our past and looks toward our bright future," says Jon Yanofsky, the Director of Brooklyn Center. "The dazzling array of performances will bring artists from all over the country and the world to the Walt Whitman stage for a season of incredible music, breathtaking dance, and colorful family performances."

Founded in 1954, Brooklyn Center for the PerformingArts at Brooklyn College presents outstanding performing arts and arts education programs, reflective of Brooklyn's diverse communities, at affordable prices. Each season, Brooklyn Center welcomes over 65,000 people to the 2,400 seat Walt Whitman Theatre, including up to 45,000 schoolchildren from over 300 schools who attend their SchoolTime series, one of the largest arts-in-education programs in the borough.

In 2014-15, Brooklyn Center celebrates its 60th Anniversary Season of presenting world-class performances on the Brooklyn College campus.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts' programs are supported, in part, by public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Major support for the 2014-15 season is provided by: Brooklyn College, Target, Con Edison, TD Bank, National Grid, the Macy's Foundation, the Pierre and Tana Matisse Foundation, the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the TD Charitable Foundation, the Henry and Lucy Moses Foundation, Inc., the Herman Goldman Foundation, the Alice Lawrence Foundation, and The Harkness Foundation for Dance. Additional support provided by CNG Publications, The Brooklyn Eagle, and WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM. The Sheraton Brooklyn New York Hotel is the official hotel of Brooklyn Center's 2014-15 Season. Backstage catering is graciously provided by Applebee's.
