The 5th Avenue Theatre is bringing the wide open plains to Seattle this February with a reimagining of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!

Let me just start out saying that I don't like this show. Right from the moment it first came out and I first heard the cast album, I thought it was forced and a little pretentious. Then I saw a touring production and came to understand it more and I got where they were going with it but still found it a little forced and pretentious. That is until I saw Balagan's production which was packed with so much unbelievable talent and honesty that I can't help but change my tune on this show and proclaim it as one of the first must see shows of the new year.

In March and April, The 5th Avenue Theatre will be holding general auditions for singers, actors, and dancers to fill both principal and ensemble roles in its 2011-12 season productions. An unprecedented six of the seven shows in the 2011-12 season will be produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre. Those productions are Saving Aimee, Cinderella, First Date, Oklahoma!, Damn Yankees, and Rent.

What happens when you take an already wonderful show and, due to popular demand, remount it in a larger venue? Well, sometimes the results can be disastrous. But Balagan Theatre's remount of their production of "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog", which sold out back in August, manages to take what worked before, improve upon it, and then add in the resources of ACT to create a show to rival the first. If the Six Million Dollar Man taught us anything it's that, "We have the technology. We can make him bigger, stronger, "and even more Horrible!

The votes are in, the ballots tallied and the people have spoken. Yes, the 2010 BroadwayWorld Seattle Theater awards results are in and my oh my was it a nail biter. There was some fierce competition out there but the voters have spoken. But since the results were so close, we're going to put in not only the winners but also the 1st and 2nd runners up as well. And I'm also going to throw in my own Critic's Choice for the hell of it. So without further ado, the envelopes please...

The second show in the Seattle Rep 2010-2011 season-and the first in the intimate Leo K. Theatre-is Edward Albee's Pultizer-Prize winning drama Three Tall Women, brought to life by a trio of powerhouse Northwest actresses and Seattle director Allison Narver. The nominees for the 2010 GREGORY AWARDS have been announced, and tickets are now on sale for the 2010 Gregory Awards Ceremony at ACT on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Balagan Theatre is currently presenting the stage version of the internet sensation "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Zack Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. And while the show had some technical issues, it is anything but horrible.

The Seattle Repertory Theatre has announced casting for the upcoming 2010-2011 season. Of the 23 roles cast so far, 21 have been filled by Seattle performers, ranging from up-and-comers like Troy Fischnaller and Alexandra Tavares to long-time staples like Charles Leggett, Sea?n G. Griffin, Todd Jefferson Moore and Suzanne Bouchard. Additionally, five of the eight directors are local, as are many of the designers.

Contemporary Classics and RK Productions will present the Seattle premiere of THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE July 14-August 14 at the Ballard Underground, 2220 NW Market St in Downtown Ballard.
