The 55th Annual Village Voice OBIE Awards were presented on Monday, May 17, 2010, at a ceremony held at Webster Hall in Manhattan. Co-hosted by Michael Cerveris and former OBIE winner Anika Noni Rose, the awards were presented by J. HUNGER Screens 25 April At Sydney Theatre

STCinema kicks off its 2010 program with a special screening of the award-winning feature film Hunger penned by acclaimed Irish writer Enda Walsh. The screening coincides with Sydney Theatre's presentation of Druid Ireland's The Walworth Farce, also written by Enda Walsh. Hunger will screen on Sunday 25 April at 1pm.

The full eleven-production lineup continues the Theatre's ongoing commitment to the highest quality, cutting-edge writing and thrilling performances. The coming season covers territory from a rundown Chicago donut shop to a sweltering beach deep in the Louisiana bayou. As The Studio Theatre welcomes the new Artistic Director into its home in September 2010, it looks forward to collaborating with this artist on the Theatre's mission: to produce the best in contemporary theatre.

Playwright Enda Walsh, author of THE NEW ELECTRIC BALLROOM and THE WALWORTH FARCE, feels that, as contradictory as it may seem, words have a habit of getting in the way. Walsh says that, although in theatre words are obviously of the utmost importance, ideas can be communicated through the actors feelings and actions. Walsh believes that 'theater can be much more than just people talking.'

Enda Walsh, playwright of the critically acclaimed The Walworth Farce, premiered his new play, The New Electric Ballroom at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn last night to a full house. The play premiered at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, winning the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe First Award. The production is brought to St. Ann's by the Irish theatre company Druid Ireland and is directed by Edna Walsh. It runs at St. Ann's Warehouse through November 22nd.
