Renowned investigative theatre company The Civilians celebrates its 10th season of creating new work with BENEFIT X - an evening of stage and screen stars performing the songs of Michael Friedman (BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON) - set for Monday, May 2, beginning at 7:00pm at one of New York City's hottest new cultural venues, Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street). Steven Cosson, Artistic Director of The Civilians, directs.

The New Group presents the first major New York revival of Wallace Shawn's Marie and Bruce in a limited Off-Broadway engagement through May 7. The LA Times 24 Frames blog has the scoop that Tom Hooper, who was recently Oscar-nominated for directing THE KING'S SPEECH has now been offered the film version of LES MISERABLES. The blog reports that it's being conceived as a fully 'big budget musical'.

Last night, October 13, Tony Award winning director & choreographer Matthew Bourne, Broadway's Original Tony Award winning Billy Elliot Trio David Alvarez, Kiril Kulish & Trent Kowalik; Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock), film & TV star Christine Baranski (Mamma Mia! movie), Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line), directing royalty Sir Richard Eyre, Tony Award winning stage & film star Alan Cumming (Cabaret), Academy Award & Tony Award winning stage and film director Sam Mendes (Cabaret, American Beauty), Emily Mortimer (Pink Panther, '30 Rock'), downtown performance artist Joey Arias, renowned puppeteer Basil Twist, screenwriter Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands), Broadway choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys), and Jack Noseworthy (Sweet Smell of Success) were among the stars who came out to celebrate the opening night of Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake at the New York City Center. Werc Werk Works, the independent production and finance company helmed by CEO Elizabeth Redleaf, and Likely Story, the New York based production company headed by Anthony Bregman, jointly announced today that they will produce DARLING COMPANION, written by Meg Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan and to be directed by Lawrence Kasdan.

Anthony Bregman of Likely Story and Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub of Big Beach announced today that Hugh Dancy ('Confessions of a Shopaholic,' 'Adam'), Kathryn Hahn ('Revolutionary Road,' 'Step Brothers'), Academy Award-nominated actress Shirley Knight, and Janet Montgomery ('Black Swan'), have joined the cast of the Jesse Peretz directed, 'My Idiot Brother,' a comedy about family and the sacrifices it takes to deal with them.

Currently off-Bway in 'Restoration', Cake is a regular on NY and London stages as well as TV and film.

Restoration, written by Claudia Shear and directed by Christopher Ashley opened at the New York Theatre Workshop this week on May 19, 2010, at 7:00pm. The production runs through Sunday, June 13. Last night, Thursday February 18, The New Group opened Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke, as the second production in its 2009-2010 season. This production plays a limited Off-Broadway engagement through March 20 at The New Group at Theatre Row. This production marks the first New York revival since the play's 1985 award-winning debut.

Montblanc presents the 9 th annual THE 24 HOUR PLAYS ON BROADWAY on Monday, November 9 th 2009 at the American Airlines Theatre. Proceeds benefit Urban Arts Partnership, a not-for-profit organization that brings vital arts education programs into New York City public school classrooms.

Further casting includes Sinead Cusack, Joanna David, Edward Fox, Tom Hollander, Richard Johnson, Emily Mortimer, Alessandro Nivola, and Dominic West. The evening will be curated by Stephen Jeffreys and Nina Raine will direct. The evening will take place November 15th.
