Gloucester Stage Company continues its 40th Anniversary Season of professional theater with Patrick Barlow's witty mystery play The 39 Steps from July 5 through July 28 at Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. This award winning comic thriller adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, from the 1915 novel by John Buchan and from the 1935 movie by Alfred Hitchcock, premiered on Broadway in 2008. The 39 Steps has played in over forty countries world-wide, winning Olivier (United Kingdom); Helpmann (Austraila); Moliere (France) and Tony Awards. The play garnered the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy; the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design; the 2008 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience; the 2009 Helpmann Award for Best Regional Touring Production; and the 2009 Moliere Award for Best Comedy.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston's 51st Summer Season continues with The Sound of Music from July 11-21, 2019. This beloved family musical features Elliot Norton and IRNE Award winner Aimee Doherty as 'Maria' - a free spirit who is struggling in her commitment to become a nun; when she is sent to look after the seven children of a widowed Navy captain by the Mother Abbess, she brings joy and music into the family's home and changes all she comes in contact with. The original play 'Saltonstall's Trial' an untold story of the infamous Salem witch trials will make its full-production debut at the historic Larcom Theatre in Beverly, Mass. over 10 performances October 17 to 27, 2019.

The Bostonian Society announces the return of Cato & Dolly to the Old State House, performing three times daily from June 17 - August 11. This original 20-minute play was written by Patrick Gabridge as part of the Through the Keyhole exhibition, and explores life behind the door of Governor John Hancock's 18th century home. Admission to the play and the exhibition are included in the cost of entry to the Old State House museum.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the smash hit film, Hub Theatre Company of Boston presents the award-winning comedy Steel Magnolias, directed by Paula Plum, Friday, July 19 - Saturday, August 3 at Club Cafe, 209 Columbus Ave. in Boston's Back Bay. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 pm, and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Tickets to all performances are "Pay-What-You-Can." Donations of toiletries and beauty supplies will be collected at each performance for local women's shelters.

To Kill A Mockingbird, Aaron Sorkin's new play, directed by Bartlett Sher, and based on Harper Lee's classic novel, will launch its coast-to-coast National Tour in August 2020 at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the heart of the nation's capital. The tour will be on the road for over two years. According to the Hollywood Reporter, stage and screen star Richard Thomas will lead the production as Atticus Finch.

Huntington Theatre Company board and staff are celebrating breaking their fundraising record at the Spotlight Spectacular gala, Monday, May 6. Held at the Boston Center for the Arts Cyclorama, the gala brought in $1.3 million to support the Huntington's operations for the fiscal year, including its broad range of education and community outreach programs.
