SpeakEasy Stage Company, Boston Playwrights' Theatre and FortyMagnolias Productions, are pleased to announce that THE WRESTLING PATIENT, the new play based on the Dutch Jewish writer Etty Hillesum that they will jointly produce this spring, has been selected as a finalist in the Outstanding New American Play competition administered by Arena Stage and sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) New Play Development Program (NPDP).

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) began previews for the New York premiere of Mike Daisey's IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING on Wednesday, October 15. This groundbreaking monologue about homeland security, created and performed by Mike Daisey and directed by Jean-Michele Gregory, will run through Tuesday, November 30 with an official press opening tonight, Monday, October 27. Tickets are on-sale now.

NSMT's Academy Performance Ensemble Performs HALLOWEEN TOWN 10/25

North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) has introduced the 2008 Academy Performance Ensemble. Under the artistic direction of NSMT's award-winning education program, these singers and dancers from Boston's North Shore ages 14 to 18 perform a wide range of selections from classic and contemporary musical theater. Their first appearance will be at Boston Medical Center's 'Halloween Town' at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston on Saturday, Oct. 25.

NSMT Presents DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 12/18

Because 'we're all in this together,' local schools have the chance to team up with North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) for a feel good fundraiser that will give them the opportunity to make DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 their high school musical. Only the second theater company in the nation to produce DISNEY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, NSMT will present this New England Regional Premiere from December 18 to January 11, 2009.

Act II Playhouse to Present Premiere of 'Magnetic North' Starting 10/21

Act II Playhouse in Ambler, PA will present the premiere of Magnetic North, by William Donnelly, directed by Bud Martin. The show will begin preview on October 21st, 2008 and officially open 24th. I will play through November 16th, 2008.

Circle in the Square Theatre (Theodore Mann, Artistic Director and Paul Libin, Managing Director) has joined Culture Project as producer of the upcoming New York production of The Atheist, presented by Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director). The dark comedy, written by Ronan Noone, directed by Justin Waldman and starring Campbell Scott as 'Augustine Early,' began performances at Culture Project's temporary new home, Barrow Street Theatre, on Tuesday, October 7th and has an official opening night Sunday, October 12.

Melissa Lone to Play Peggy Sawyer in NSMT's '42nd Street'

North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) announced today that the role of Peggy Sawyer in its upcoming production of 42nd STREET (October 28 to November 23, 2008) will now be played by actress Melissa Lone. Ms. Lone comes to NSMT from Broadway where she recently appeared as Maggie in the Tony(R) Award winning revival of A Chorus Line. No stranger to 42nd STREET, she played Gladys in the National Tour and Peggy Sawyer in the Trump Plaza's production in Atlantic City.

McLaughlin to Present New Play, 'Penelope', This Fall at NYU

Actress and playwright ELLEN MCLAUGHLIN, best known for originating the role of the Angel in Tony Kushner's 'ANGELS IN AMERICA', appearing in every U.S. production from its earliest workshops through its Broadway run, will present a workshop presentation of her new play 'PENELOPE' at NYU this fall. 'PENELOPE' is a music-theater piece featuring Ms. Mc Laughlin and a string quartet with original music by Sarah Kirkland Snider. It will be presented at NYU Gallatin School's new Labowitz theatre, 715 Broadway, on October 29, 20, 31 and November 1st at 7 PM with a 2 PM matinee on November 1.
