Phoenix Theatre Ensemble presents Elise Stone in MEDEA & The Furies Directed by Karen Case Cook

(American Opera Projects) and Adelphi University present Independence Eve, a new chamber opera in three scenes that explores the troubled journey of race relations in America. The concert performances will take place on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30PM at the Concert Hall of the Performing Arts Center at Adelphi University (1 South Ave, Garden City, NY 11530), with a second performance on Saturday, November 15 at 8PM in the Great Room at AOP's South Oxford Space (138 S Oxford Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217). Composed by Sidney Marquez Boquiren with a libretto by Daniel Neer, the opera will include performances by baritone Jorell Williams, and tenor Brandon Snook. Damian Norfleet will act as stage director, while Mila Henry will provide music direction and piano.

Pamela Bob, from the cast of the Tony Award-winning 'Best Musical' A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, will perform a solo show at 54 Below on Monday, October 6 featuring the songs of Ellen Mandel and Michael Lydon. Directed by DJ Salisbury, the theatrical evening, entitled Hat, Hat Chapeau will tell the story of three women through jazzy ballads, lyrical settings of modern poetry, and bluesy funk. Pamela will also go on in the role of Sibela in A Gentleman's Guide for the full week leading up to her performance at 54 Below.

Join Jonas Hassen Khemiri's unpredictable world where everyone fights to define the meaning of the word 'we'. Khemiri, born in Sweden in 1978, is the author of three novels and six plays. His first novel, One REd Eye, received in 2004 the Boras Tidning award for best literary debut. His second novel, Montocore, (2011) won several literary awards including the Swedish Radio Award for best novel of the year. Khemiri's works have been translated into more than fifteen languages and his plays have been performed by over 40 international companies. In 2011 Khemiri's play Invasion premiered in New York at Walkerspace and he was awarded a Village Voice Obie Award for playwriting.
