BWW Blog: 'You Miss 100% of the Shots You Don't Take'
by Charles Swan - Feb 9, 2015

Posted in my classroom is a sign that reads, 'You miss one 100% of the shots you don't take.' I love the sports analogy and thinking about the theatre as a sport. Surely the training, athleticism, and grit required on any field are also required (dare I say 'doubly, if not triply') for a career in the theatre.

by Robert Diamond - Feb 7, 2015

"Eye of the Storm Eilida's Tragedy" by Elle Klass a chilling tale inspired from her time living in the mountainous Virginia terrain and the onslaught of hurricanes, she survived, flooding Florida in 2004 along with the numbers of vicious crimes seen through the media. 'One cannot unlock the Universe until they find the key to unlock themselves,' says author Klass as she delves into the psyche of one young woman who witnesses the unthinkable. About the book - A disturbance at her neighbor's house piques Eilida's curiosity. What she discovers is so shocking it sends her running through the mountainous woods during a thunderstorm. She slips on the wet ground, plummets down Mount Wilde, and slams into a large boulder beside River Freedom. Eilida is transported to Lyden, where Sunshine, a receptionist at the local paper becomes engrossed in her story. The further Sunshine delves into Eilida's life the more entangled their lives become. "This psychological paranormal thriller, reminiscent of the 'Twilight Zone', is a chilling tale with mystery and intrigue saturating every page." -Author Marcha Fox author of the "Star Trails Tetralogy" "It's a Hitchcockian plunge by Ms. Klass, who is once again exploring the world of amnesiac episodes, violent deaths and childhood trauma." -John Reinhard Dizon author of "The Triad, Transplant, and Nightcrawler" Elle was born in Redwood City, California and spent her childhood in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a bachelor's degree in education and has spent twelve years teaching science at the junior high level. Creative writing has always been a passion for her. Now she seeks to put into print and share with the public the stories she has feverishly been writing for years.

MASS MoCA + MoCA LA + Online Presents IDEAL WOMAN Jewelry Line
by BWW News Desk - Feb 6, 2015

Conceptual artist Allie Pohl's Ideal Woman jewelry line is now available at the MASS MoCA Store. Pohl is a Los Angeles-based conceptual artist whose work explores the social and cultural constructions of contemporary Western society. Pohl created the Ideal Woman by digitally enhancing Barbie to fit Western society's ideal female measurements of 36-24-36—addressing the social constructs of perfection and the demands made on a woman's body. Pohl's Ideal Woman symbolizes anti-perfection and is repeated throughout Pohl's work in sculpture, video, ceramic, installation, and neon. Pohl's Ideal Woman jewelry line was created in an effort to continue the 'anti-perfection' conversation outside of galleries and museums. Pohl's Ideal Womanjewelry has been seen on Lena Dunham, Sophia Bush, Rosario Dawson, Kate Mara, Jill Soloway, and Zosia Mamet; featured in ELLE, Marie Claire, Purple Diary, and Hello Giggles, among others, and carried by the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles. For the month of February, purchase selections from the jewelry line at Pohl's online shop, and receive 15% off when using the promotional code LOVE.

BWW Reviews: Here I Go Again! MAMMA MIA! is Still Irresistible
by Wendi Reichstein - Jan 22, 2015

"Mamma Mia- here I go again" weren't just familiar song lyrics I was thinking of when I walked into Bass Concert Hall Tuesday night. No, it was also literal thinking going through my head. Why? The opening night of Broadway in Austin's Mamma Mia! was my fifth time seeing the production. From seeing the first national tour back in 2002, to the dragging my dad to the production in Las Vegas, to seeing it twice more through Broadway Across America Houston before sitting in the audience at Bass, here I go again may have been the understatement of the evening.
