Jo Kreiter's Flyaway Productions Reveals New Aerial Dance, NEEDLES TO THREAD, Now thru 10/10

This fall Jo Kreiter's Flyaway Productions unveils the third and final installment in its trilogy about urban poverty that began in 2012 with the award-winning Niagara Falling. Titled Needles to Thread: Dancing Along These Lines in Continuum Alley, Kreiter's newest site-specific aerial dance takes on the issue of wage security for women through the story of San Francisco's garment workers past and present.

Circus comes to New York City as part of City Parks Foundation's SummerStage Kids International Contemporary Circus Festival, with free performances in all five boroughs from June 26 - August 17, 2015. New Yorkers will be dazzled by Bollywood-style juggling, hoop diving and partner acrobatics shows specially designed to entertain all ages! Jacob's Pillow to Kick Off 2015 Festival with Performances, Classes, Exhibits, & More, 6/13

May 26, 2015 - (Becket, MA) Following the critical acclaim and record-breaking attendance of Festival 2014, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival opens its 2015 season in June. Highlights of Festival 2015 include Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host, a special dance and radio stage production starring Ira Glass, host of This American Life; the return of Nederlands Dans Theater 2; the world premiere of American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Daniil Simkin's INTENSIO; Cuban contemporary ensemble Malpaso Dance Company, performing with GRAMMY Award-winning pianist and composer Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble; and the launch of Martha Graham Dance Company's 90th Anniversary, including a world premiere by eminent choreographer Mats Ek. 

New York Live Arts Sets Fresh Tracks 2014-15

New York Live Arts today announced the seven artists selected for the 2014-15 Fresh Tracks Performance and Residency Program. The 2014-15 Fresh Tracks artists are Same As Sister (S.A.S.)/Briana Brown-Tipley and Hilary Brown, Nico Brown, He Jin Jang, Niall Jones, Julie Mayo and Lindsay Reuter. These artists will present their works in the Fresh Tracks performance showcase, January 29 - 31, 2015, at 7:30pm.

SITI Company to Honor Jon Jory, 11/10

Since its founding in 1992, SITI Company has redefined contemporary theater in the United States through an innovative approach to collaboration, cultural exchange, and actor training. With the idea of the ensemble as its bedrock, SITI has served as a creative home for a core group of artists: ten actors, four designers, the director Anne Bogart, and a stunning list of international collaborators. Working together, SITI has not only reimagined what is possible both on and off the stage, but, more broadly, what it means to be a global artist in the new millennium.

Streb's FORCES Opens Tonight at SLAM

Back home after an acclaimed tour, STREB, New York's Own Action Heroes spring into action with the spring edition of Forces at SLAM (Streb Lab for Action Mechanics), their Williamsburg playground. Elizabeth Streb and her Extreme Action Company have teamed with theater luminaries to give Action a voice and story in Forces, tonight, May 16th through June 22nd at SLAM, 51 North 1st St. Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Action architect and revolutionary choreographer Elizabeth Streb has joined thousands of artists from around the world to celebrate public art in Art Set Free, an unprecedented global arts showcase that aims to create the world's largest collection of public art over the next year. Acclaimed for presenting hundreds of exciting, world-class cultural experiences for free to hundreds of thousands of people each year worldwide, Arts Brookfield launched Art Set Free in October 2013 in celebration of its 25th Anniversary, aiming to create the world's largest digital collection of public art. Since its launch, the Art Set Free showcase has collected over 10,000 pieces of art from artists in over 50 countries, including Australia, Brazil and India.

Anna Deavere Smith and A.M. Homes Set for RISKY TALKING #2 at SLAM Tonight

On May 2nd, Flanders & Streb are convening Risky Talking #2: What Is A Risky Truth? Acclaimed novelist A.M. Homes and actress/dramatist Anna Deavere Smith will join action architect Elizabeth Streb and author/journalist Laura Flanders for more. Hear what they think, say what you think and watch out for the unique action moment created by the Streb team. The action and the conversation resume today May 2nd from 7 to 9 pm. Admission is $10 or $20-you decide. There's even food!
