Palm Beach Dramaworks announces One Week Extension of The Spitfire Grill by James Valcq (Book and Music) and Fred Alley (Book and Lyrics) Based on the Film by Lee David Zlotoff Must Close on March 3

The Spitfire Grill, a warm and uplifting show by James Valcq (book and music) and Fred Alley (book and lyrics) about starting over and second chances, forgiveness and redemption, becomes the first musical to be produced by Palm Beach Dramaworks as part of its subscription season. This internationally beloved work opens on February 1 and runs through February 24, with specially priced previews on January 30 and 31. Bruce Linser directs.

Dreams are in short supply on the desolate island of Inishmaan, particularly for the sensitive, physically challenged Billy Claven in Martin McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan. So when word arrives that an American filmmaker is coming to the neighboring island of Inishmore to make a motion picture, Billy goes after a part in the movie, hoping for a trip to Hollywood and escape from the cruelty and bleakness that engulf him. McDonagh's darkly comic work opens at Palm Beach Dramaworks on May19 and continues through June 4, with specially priced previews on May 17 and 18.  

Palm Beach Dramaworks is pleased to announce that educator, director, and actor Bruce Linser has joined the staff as Manager of The Dramaworkshop, the company's lab for developing new plays.

City Theatre's Summer Shorts Sing

City Theatre and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County invite audiences to celebrate 21 years of the SUMMER SHORTS FESTIVAL from June 2 - July 3, 2016 at the Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House).

Les Miserables, the inspiring musical about class struggle set against the backdrop of revolution, and Daniel's Husband, a powerful new play about the importance of marriage equality, took their respective places in South Florida theatrical history as Best Musical and Best Play on Monday, April 4th when the winners of the 40th annual Carbonell Awards were announced in a lavish ceremony at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.

Can you hear the people sing? The Carbonell Awards judges did, honoring LES MISERABLES at Maltz Jupiter Theatre with 10 Carbonell nominations, the most of any musical production. Daniel's Husband at Island City Stage, a world premiere about the importance of marriage equality, garnered six nominations, the most of any play.

This December, get excited for the biggest event of the season: the Maltz Jupiter Theatre's much-anticipated Florida regional premiere of BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL! Soaring now through December 20 at the award-winning not-for-profit theatre, the electrifying blockbuster follows the story of Billy, the youngest child of a blue-collar family who discovers his unlikely and extraordinary gift for ballet. PICNIC, the 1953 Pulitzer Prize-winning play by William Inge about sexual repression, longing and disillusionment, and the narrow-minded limitations of life in a small Midwestern town, launches Palm Beach Dramaworks' 2015-2016 season on Friday, October 9 (8pm) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. Performances continue through November 8, with specially priced previews tonight and tomorrow, October 7 and 8.
