Guild Hall, the visual and performing arts center on eastern Long Island, recently honored the recipients of the 28th Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards: John Alexander for Visual Arts; Walter Isaacson for Literary Arts; Nathan Lane for Performing Arts and Mickey Straus, who received the Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropy. Marshall Brickman was the Master of Ceremonies with special guest presenters: Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Jack O'Brien and Lorne Michaels. The awards were presented during a benefit dinner on Monday, March 4 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. BroadwayWorld has photos from the starry gathering below!

Kim Stanley is an iconic actress who is legendary on Broadway and in Hollywood but almost unknown to the public. alled the Female Brando, she made just four movies but was nominated twice for an Academy Award. She originated the dynamic characterization of Cherie in the original Broadway production of Bus Stop, a performance that Marilyn Monroe studied multiple times before appropriating it for the film version. To bring the story of Kim Stanley to the world, three theatre professionals and former students of hers have interviewed over 60 people around the world, including Lord Richard Attenborough, Sydney Pollack, Arthur Penn, Jessica Lange, Ellen Burstyn, Horton Foote, Eli Wallach and Lauren Hutton. THE NEEDS OF KIM STANLEY focuses on Kim's artistry and her approach to acting, epitomized by the exercise she created called 'The Needs.'

Schreiber Studio and Theatre hosted a Salute to New York Theatre to honor a trio of New York theatre luminaries last night, November 12th, at the Maritime Hotel (363 West 16th Street at 9th Avenue). This year's group of honorees included Tony Award-winning actress Judith Light, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley and NY1 theatre critic Roma Torre. Last night, July 2, was the Bucks County Playhouse re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as the first performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein's A Grand Night for Singing. The first production of the Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) 2012 summer season, A Grand Night for Singing will run through Sunday, July 29th. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place 73 years and a day after The Playhouse first opened in 1939. Special guests included Mayor Laurence Keller (New Hope), Chris Hart (son of Moss Hart), Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Cawley, Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick (U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district), and Will Hammerstein (Grandson of Oscar Hammerstein II).
