Next Door at New York Theatre Workshop (79 East 4th Street) continues its inaugural season with the New York premiere of Mac Wellman's A Chronicle of the Madness of Small Worlds, adapted for the stage and directed by Elena Araoz. The production runs in NYTW's newly renovated 65-seat black box space from January 17 through February 5, 2018. The production is produced and sponsored by Harvey and Kathleen Guion.

The rep will feature the World Premiere of Sound House, written by Stephanie Fleischmann (Red Fly, Blue Bottle at HERE; Eloise & Ray with New Georges), directed by Debbie Saivetz (Our Dad is in Atlantis with Working Theater) along with the World Premiere of This is the Color Described By the Time, conceived and directed by Lily Whitsitt and created by Door 10. Elena Araoz, a critically-acclaimed New York-based director of opera and theater, will direct Shakespeare Festival St. Louis' production of Romeo and Juliet, June 1-24, at Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park. The director originally slated for the production, Taibi Magar, has taken an Off-Broadway project at The Atlantic Theatre Company that will conflict with the St. Louis production dates.

Pocket Universe presents a new, all-female production of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, starring Alyssa May Gold (Arcadia on Broadway, Middle of the Night) as Brutus, Dea Julien (West Side Story 1st Nat'l Tour, Blueprint Specials) as Julius Caesar, Violeta Picayo (BEDLAM's Sense & Sensibility, RadioBABEL) as Mark Antony, Madeline Wolf (Fun Home on Broadway, Normativity) as Cassius, Miranda Cornell (Alter Ego, #Blessed) as Casca, and Amie Tedesco (Lemon Sky, Any Day Now) as Lucius. All other roles will be played by members of the company. The production will run through July 8, 2017 at the Access Theater Gallery Space. Opening night is tonight, June 23.

KIDNAP ROAD - a new play by Catherine Filloux, based on the real-life story of a female presidential candidate held in captivity for six years by terrorists in Colombia - will be given its world premiere production this spring, presented by La MaMa at its First Floor Theatre (74 E. 4 St.), with previews beginning tomorrow, April 27, prior to the official press opening on April 30. There will be a series of conversations after select shows, surrounding themes in Kidnap Road.
