The way Tune had just danced, sung, and charmed, no one including producer and Elizabeth Taylor look-a-like Jan McArt could believe the stunning nine time Tony Award winner was a senior citizen. A designated New York City Living Landmark had become a snowbird for the weekend to perform at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University. Lynn University's annual Celebration of the Arts will take place on Friday, April 26th at the Wold Performing Arts Center. A festival of the arts showcasing the talents of The Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn College of International Communication and Lynn Drama Program students, faculty, and staff, the evening will begin at 6 pm with a showcase of photography, painting, film, sculpture, and live music. Complimentary food and drinks will be served. And at 7:30 pm the headline production Celebration of the Arts will take the stage.
As reported by The Miami Herald, actor Don McArt, who appeared on Broadway, in touring productions, films, television and more, died Tuesday in Boca Raton, Fla., after suffering a stroke. He was 90.
This play reading series at Lynn is being expanded into a much more ambitious program, where actual workshops will be produced that give playwrights the chance to bring in a new play and work with a cast and a director for six days - rehearsing, re-writing, rehearsing, rewriting. Then, at the end of the six days, they will present their new, polished, reworked play to the public, in performance.
