Arizona Theatre Company Adds Widely Acclaimed LA ESQUINITA, USA to 50th Anniversary Season

Due to artist scheduling conflicts, Arizona Theatre Company has added acclaimed actor/playwright Ruben C. Gonzalez' one-man tour de force La Esquinita, USA to the 2016-17 50th anniversary season and rescheduled Marisela Treviño Orta's The River Bride to 2017-18. La Esquinita, USA will run in Tucson from Jan. 14 to Feb. 4, 2017 and in Phoenix from Feb. 2-26, the same dates as the postponed The River Bride.

Borderlands Theater Presents the World Premiere of Sonoran Shadows

Borderlands Theater presents the world premiere of Sonoran Shadows, a shadow play based on Patricia Preciado Martin's El Milagro and Other Stories, excerpted and adapted for the stage by Milta Ortiz. The family friendly spectacle will be staged outdoors at Armory Park Band Shell and Oury Recreation Center. Art direction by Cristina Cardenas. Marc David Pinate directs. Audience members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks.

Regina Taylor to be Honored at Black and Latino Playwrights Conference

Golden Globe award-winning actress and playwright Regina Taylor is this year's recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award at the 14th Annual Texas State Black and Latino Playwrights Conference Sept. 12-18 at Texas State University. A tribute to the native Texan will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.  

Milagro Announces 33rd Season

Milagro, the Northwest's premier Latino arts and culture organization announces its 2016-2017 season, dubbed Season 33, featuring four world premieres, a national touring production, and a brand-new Spanish-language musical!  In Season 33, Milagro explores HOME as the central theme as it continues to provide extraordinary Latino theatre, culture, and arts education for the enrichment of all communities.

San Jose Stage Company Artistic Director Honored at Faces of Theatre Bay Area 40@40 Celebration

Randall King, San Jose Stage Company's  Artistic Director and Co-founder, was honored last night by Theatre Bay Area at their Faces of Theatre Bay Area 40@40 Celebration held at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. King was feted, along with 39 of his peers, for his tremendous contributions and commitment to the Bay Area theatre community for the past 35 years. Over 150 artists, arts leaders, advocates and sponsors enjoyed an evening of musical performances, backstage tours of A.C.T.'s new Strand Theater and the historic SHN Orpheum Theater, and a silent auction benefiting Theatre Bay Area. 

San Jose Stage Company Announces 2016-2017 Season

San Jose Stage Company Artistic Director Randall King today announced the company's 34th season. Audiences will be transported around the world to Africa, Ireland, the Middle East and back to America in an emotionally-charged, outrageously funny and enlightening exploration of race, identity, politics and cultural understanding.

On track to be one of San Jose Stage Company's biggest hits, the World Premiere of Valley of the Heart, in partnership with El Teatro Campesino, has been extended through March 20 with six additional performances for the second time in one month.  Due to rave reviews and tremendous word of mouth resulting in sold out performances and few available seats, the show has been extended for one final week through March 20.

On track to be one of San Jose Stage Company's biggest box office hits, VALLEY OF THE HEART, in partnership with El Teatro Campesino, has been extended through March 13 with six additional performances. With increasing demand for tickets, sold out performances and limited availability in others, the show has been extended for one week before it previews tonight, February 10, and opens February 13.

Diane Rodriguez Appointed to National Council on the Arts

Diane Rodriguez, associate artistic director at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, California was appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate to be a member of the National Council on the Arts, the advisory body of the National Endowment for the Arts.

San Jose Stage to Present World Premiere of Luis Valdez's VALLEY OF THE HEART

San Jose Stage Company in partnership with El Teatro Campesino kicks off the New Year with the highly-anticipated World Premiere of Valley of the Heart, by internationally renowned playwright, director and producer Luis Valdez. Directed by Valdez, this American love story is deeply rooted in the fertile Santa Clara Valley and runs February 10 through March 6 at San Jose Stage Company. The fight to maintain dignity, identity and family are at the heart of this sweeping epic that illustrates the ironic divide between America's ideals and its actions in what the San Jose Mercury News says is a 'multicultural touchstone,' and the Los Angeles Times says 'We need memory plays as powerful as this one ... a quintessentially California play, written by a master of the genre.'

CTG and El Teatro Campesino Bring 'POPUL VUH' to Grand Park Today

Center Theatre Group and El Teatro Campesino present 'Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven', adapted and directed by Kinan Valdez and featuring members of the Boyle Heights community. The show runs today and tomorrow, October 10 and 11 at 3:30 p.m. at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.
