A woman finds her calling while volunteering for an underground political newspaper during the early years of the United Farm Workers movement. Written and directed by Obie Award winner Diane Rodriguez, the world premiere of The Sweetheart Deal opens May 12 at The Los Angeles Theatre Center, presented by The Latino Theater Company in association with El Teatro Campesino.

Castillo Theatre presents a special community screening in honor of New Federal Theatre Founder Woodie King Jr., as part of the Legacy Leaders of Color Video Project (LLCVP). The event will be held at the Castillo Theatre, 543 West 42nd Street in Manhattan, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 7pm with a panel discussion, film screening, audience Q&A, followed by a reception.

Central Works has extended its 2017 season opener, the bizarre mystery about twin sisters Years in the Hundreds by Jesse Potterveld, it is now extended and must close March 26. Playwright Jesse Potterveld's debut production Years in the Hundreds was met with an engaged and enthusiastic response from the press and audiences alike. The production was described at its premiere as "riveting & raw" with "delicious and disastrous secrets, harboring crime, love, and dalliances." In Years in the Hundreds "even the strangest things appear plausible" yet "unnervingly unpredictable".  Directed by Gary Graves, Years in the Hundreds was developed in the Central Works Writers Workshop and features actors Tamar Cohn, Anne Hallinan and Adam Roy.

Black Ensemble Theater has announced a special, one-night-only event to screen Legacy Leaders of Color Video Project (LLCVP), which features interviews with BE Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor.

Due to continued extraordinary ticket sales and resounding critical response, Center Theatre Group is announcing a third and final one-week extension for the run of Luis Valdez's "Zoot Suit' at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum.

Ruben C. Gonzalez delivers a rock solid and emotionally potent performance in LA ESQUINITA, USA, his metaphor for neighborhoods that time and economy forgot, where the streets are now boulevards of broken dreams, and where hope is replaced by ennui and meth. (Arizona Theatre Company, in co-production with El Teatro Campesino, is presenting the Arizona premiere of his one-man/twelve character opus through February 26th at the Herberger Theater Center.)

Milagro presents the 2008 Henry Award winner for Outstanding New Play, Lydia. Set in the 1970s on the Texas border separating the United States and Mexico, Lydia is an intense, lyrical and magical story.

Clark Street in Chicago, on Monday, February 27, 2017, with a reception at 6pm and film screening and panel discussion at 7pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Center Theatre Group will host six Community Conversations for 'Zoot Suit,' which returns to the Mark Taper Forum to celebrate Center Theatre Group's 50th Anniversary. This series of panel conversations on selected nights throughout the run will be open to the public and feature local thought leaders in dialogue about the context, issues and ideas finding voice on our stages.
