The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts is excited to present A Chorus Line, tonight, Feb. 16, through Feb. 28.

It's usually around this time of year that the Hollywood Bowl announces their summer musical, and this year we haven't heard yet, officially... so we sent out our spies in Los Angeles to see what we could find out. It didn't take long to zero in on what we suspect will be announced very shortly. So, what musical would they choose after LES MISERABLES, GUYS & DOLLS, THE PRODUCERS, RENT, HAIR and last summer's SPAMALOT? Drumroll please... we believe that the Hollywood Bowl Musical will be A CHORUS LINE.

The dancer whose story of body-enhancement became one of A CHORUS LINE's most memorable songs, gets a number of her own.

The University of the Arts' Ira Brind School of Theater Arts announces the 2016 lineup for Polyphone, a "festival of the emerging musical" on the UArts campus in Philadelphia.  Running March 20-27, the 2016 the Polyphone festival produces staged concerts of new musicals and re-imagined canonical works offering professional composers, librettists and directors an opportunity to develop their work among the rich creative community of the Brind School at UArts.  The festival will program five musicals, including both classical and new works, with three performances each.  

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will continue their 20thAnniversary Season with the Broadway musical A CLASS ACT. The one-night-only concert will take place at Glendale's historic Alex Theatre on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 7:00 PM.

After a sold-out developmental production at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, STILLWATER comes to Joe's Pub for a one-night only event. Rock, pop, and alt-country tunes tell the story of two love triangles catastrophically intersecting in a modern-day drug-fueled trailer park in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Cortland Repertory Theatre, one of New York State's longest running professional summer theatres, is announcing their 45th annual season for the summer of 2016. "We're absolutely thrilled to be bringing six CRT premieres in this coming season, including three regional debuts." Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson says. 

Rancho Mirage's CVRep is premiering George Eastman's dramedy, HAPPY HOUR. Director Ron Celona, veteran actor Gavin MacLeod, and Los Angeles-based actor John Hawkinson do justice to Mr. Eastman's sensitive and intelligent play about a son's worries over his aging father's safety. The result is another must-see production at CVRep.

Coachella Valley Repertory (CVRep) in Rancho Mirage, California, starts its 2015-16 season on October 28th with the world premiere of HAPPY HOUR, written by George Eastman, starring Gavin MacLeod and John Hawkinson, and directed by CVRep's artistic director, Ron Celona.

The final night of this year's estimable Cabaret Convention, What I Did for Love/Taking a Chance on Love, hosted by Klea Blackhurst, saluted composer/songwriter Vernon Duke in Act I and composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch during Act II. It was a curious pairing, indeed.

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists participating in its two Fall artist development programs: the Alumni Writers Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY, which ran October 4-11, as well as the two-week Theatre Lab for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), taking place November 8-22. Today in 2006, the first Broadway revival of A Chorus Line opened at the Schoenfeld Theatre, where it ran for 759 performances. A Chorus Line is a musical about Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. The book was authored by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, lyrics were written by Edward Kleban, and music was composed by Marvin Hamlisch. With nineteen main characters, it is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. The show provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. The original Broadway production received 12 Tony Award nominations and winning nine of them, in addition to the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Frank Ferrante brings his one-man show to the Coachella Valley Repertory (CVRep), in the last of CVRep's summer 2015 cabaret series. 'Groucho,' as played by Mr. Ferrante, will entertain audiences for three performances on the weekend of August 28th through the 30th.
