Musical Theatre Guild to Continue 20th Anniversary Season with A CLASS ACT

By:

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angeles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, will continue their 20thAnniversary Season with the Broadway musical A CLASS ACT. The one-night-only concert will take place at Glendale's historic Alex Theatre on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 7:00 PM.

Loosely based on the life of composer-lyricist Edward Kleban (A CHORUS LINE) who died at the age of 48 in 1987, A CLASS ACT features a book by Lonny Price and Linda Kline along with music by Kleban himself, extracted from a catalog of his unproduced material. The musical uses flashbacks and the device of time running backward to retrace the high and low points of the composer's personal and professional life. A CLASS ACT premiered Off-Broadway in 2000 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Stage II and transferred to Broadway the following year, receiving five Tony® Award nominations including Best Musical.

Featured as Kleban is Musical Theatre Guild member Joshua Finkel, who will be joined by fellow company members Melissa Fahn, Zachary Ford, Julie Garnye, John Massey and Jeffrey Christopher Todd, along with guest artists Melody Butiu and Monica Quinn. A CLASS ACT will be directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera with musical direction by Brent Crayon and will be choreographed by A CHORUS LINE original cast member Kay Cole. The musical is under the production supervision of Jill Marie Burke.

The 2015-2016 MTG season concludes on May 15, 2016 with the classic musical THE PAJAMA GAME. The Alex Theatre is located at 216 N. Brand Blvd in downtown Glendale, CA. Single tickets and subscriptions are available by logging onto www.musicaltheatreguild.com or by calling 818-243-ALEX.
