Whidbey Island Dance Theatre's "The Snow Queen" returns to Langley in a co-production with Whidbey Island Center for the Arts which staged the ballet with WIDT 18 years ago to sold-out houses. Originally created by WIDT in 1996 and 1998, "The Snow Queen" was the first full-length production designed for and presented on the new WICA stage.

Jessica Lang Dance performed in New York City this week at the Joyce Theater and it did not disappoint. The choreography never failed to be completely original and the cast performed with pristine technique. The show was under two hours and showcased three New York premiers and returning pieces. All movement was impeccably set to music from Handel,Trio Mediaeval,Ciupinski,John and Thomas Metcalf,Mendelssohn, and Edvard Grieg. Jessica Lang truly shows us culture through her eyes with a captivating performance. Furthermore, Jessica Lang Dance truly puts heart into every detail of their performance. The company's return to the Joyce Theater is no exception and became another reason why dance in New York City is never a disappointment.

Renowned bass John Relyea, who is performing in the Metropolitan Opera's current production of Rusalka with Renée Fleming; rising young soprano Lori Guilbeau, a 2010 George London Award winner; and pianist Warren Jones will share the stage for the second event in the season's George London Foundation Recital Series on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 4:30 PM at The Morgan Library & Museum. The series presents pairs of outstanding opera singers, many of whom were winners of a George London prize early in their careers or are recent George London Award recipients. Composed at the close of his three-year period in America, this large scale work aches with homesickness for his native Bohemia. The program also includes Cesar Franck's touching symphony in D minor, and Edvard Grieg's delectable Peer Gynt Suite.

The Manhattan Choral Ensemble (MCE) will begin its 14th season with guest conductor Deborah Simpkin King leading a program of holiday music on December 6, 2013 and December 8, 2013. As the fourth installment of the MCE's Reading and Carols series, the choir will present musical selections and literary passages focused on the theme of Love. Dr. King will conduct in place of the MCE's Founder and Director Thomas Cunningham, who is currently on a one-year sabbatical in New Zealand. This is the first MCE program ever to feature a guest conductor.

The three guest conductors-Deborah Simpkin King, Andrew Megill and Joseph Flummerfelt-have worked with Mr. Cunningham to curate programs that will showcase the MCE's commitment to contemporary composers and choral masterworks.
