Nominees for the 2011 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards were announced on the evening of Monday, September 19 at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank; the complete list of nominees is as follows.
Actors' Theatre opens the 2011-12 season, its 26th, with Susan Claassen's one-woman performance in 'A Conversation With Edith Head' from Sept. 16 through Oct. 2 on Stage West at The Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe.
Actors Theatre moves into its next quarter century of thought-provoking, compelling and, at times, controversial shows with six plays during the 2011-12 season beginning with an inside look at Hollywood through the eyes of legendary costume designer Edith Head and including works by playwrights who have made their mark on Valley audiences: Annie Baker, Sarah Ruhl and Donald Margulies.
Three-time Tony Award-winning scenic designer ROBIN WAGNER and esteemed costume designer LEWIS BROWN are among the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 8 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Brown was selected to receive the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer Robin Wagner will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Sadly, Mr. Brown passed away in January of 2011. His award will be accepted by his long-time colleague and friend, Albert Wolsky, who was the recipient of the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award
Arizona-based actress and Invisible Theatre's Managing Artistic Director, SUSAN CLAASSEN, most recently completed a sold-out 5 week run at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.
