Abby Payne's The Gunfighter Meets His Match to Premiere at 2018 New York Musical Festival

The 2018 New York Musical Festival will present the World Premiere of The Gunfighter Meets His Match (Abby Payne and Chelsea Retzloff, Producers) with music, lyrics & book by Abby Payne (Musical Theatre Factory's series at Joe's Pub), directed and choreographed by Jeff Davis of Glitter Kitty Productions (One for the Ages!), July 30th-August 4th at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The Colorado Theatre Guild Presents The 13th Annual Henry Award Nominations

The Colorado Theatre Guild's 13th Annual Henry Awards will take place Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Lone Tree Arts Center, located at 10075 Commons St. Lone Tree, CO 80124. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a reception at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Tickets are $35 for CTG members, $40 non-members or $45 at the door. Tickets go on sale June 12, 2018 through the Lone Tree Arts Center website at www.LoneTreeArtsCenter.org or by calling the box office at 720-509-1000.

Artemisia Announces Fall Festival 2018

Artemisia launches its 2018-19 Theatre Season with six ground breaking and all-new feminist plays featured in Fall Festival 2018. This year's playwrights were chosen after a dedicated search by Artemisia's Artistic Staff and their remarkable new works are not to be missed! Each play is staged only once by Chicago's excellent pool of talent. From this unique lineup, one play will be chosen by Artistic Director, Julie Proudfoot, whose dedicated development process with the playwright will be shared directly with Artemisia's audience and lead to the play's exciting premiere production in Chicago. This year's festival follows diverse and fascinating female characters, all on a journey of empowerment.

Christian McBride to Headline Benefit Concert For Luna Stage

Six-time GRAMMY-winning bassist Christian McBride will headline a concert to benefit Luna Stage on Friday, June 1 at the Montclair Women's Club. This jazz luminary will be joined onstage by special guests. The program will include cocktails, dessert, a silent auction and dancing after the concert. Proceeds will support development of Luna's cutting-edge theater productions, classes in local schools, and community programming.

Japan Society Presents Yumi Kurosawa and Yoko Reikano Kimura

On Thursday, May 24 (7:30 pm) Japan Society presents an evening with two New York-based master instrumentalists: koto player Yumi Kurosawa and shamisen player Yoko Reikano Kimura, who are revitalizing their instruments through novel repertoire, musical approaches, and playing techniques. The eclectic program will span traditional, classical, and contemporary works, including duets of koto + shamisen, shamisen + cello (Hikaru Tamaki) and koto + tabla (Anubrata Chatterjee). The recital will take place in Japan Society's serene and intimate Murase Room, with a cash bar at 7 pm. Tickets are $25, $20 for Japan Society members, available at japansociety.org/performingarts.

Japan Society Presents REST IN PEACE, NEW YORK A Public Forum On Theater, Women And Immigration

Japan Society welcomes back Shirotama Hitsujiya, internationally known performance artist, artistic director of the experimental theater company YUBIWA Hotel and founder of AJOKAI (Asian Women Performing Arts Collective), for a residency and public forum focused on the experiences of Vietnamese women who have immigrated to New York.  In this Spring residency, as part of an ongoing project collecting the oral histories of Southeast Asian women, Hitsujiya will delve into New York's vibrant Vietnamese community through a series of immersive studies and conversations, compiling the personal stories of the women she encounters into a script that will be transcribed onto a long rice-paper handscroll.

Manhood marks the 13th installment of the Society's Play Reading Series of contemporary Japanese plays in English translation, introducing topical plays from up-and-coming playwrights in Japan to artists and audiences in the U.S. This event, part of Japan Society's 110th Anniversary Season, aligns with the Spring 2018 Performing Arts focus on deepening the Society's relationship with New York artists.

SELL/BUY/DATE At The Geffen Playhouse Extends One Week

The Geffen Playhouse today announced that Sell/Buy/Date, Sarah Jones' critically acclaimed one-woman show, will extend for one week and run through Sunday, April 15. Written and performed by Jones and directed by Carolyn Cantor, Sell/Buy/Date opens tonight in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse.
