ONCE ON THIS ISLAND Comes To Shoreline Actor's Collective

Once on This Island will perform at the Shoreline Theater Academy December 7 - 9 in Clinton, Ct. with its troupe the Shoreline Actor's Collective. Producing competitive, cutting Edge Theater for the shoreline of Ct ranging from modern dramas to Shakespeare in the Park to socially charged musical theater productions, the Shoreline Actor's Collective is now in its 9th year successfully offering teens and adults a competitive, high quality experience in performance.

Kaiya Colquhoun portrays a young peasant girl named, Ti Moune who risks everything for her love of a wealthy boy from the other side of the island named Daniel (Jonny Issac). Alas, the divide between their social classes is so great Ti Moune must face adversity to be with him. She prays to the gods for help. The gods, Asaka, Mother of the Earth (Maddie Wines), Agwe, God of Water (Tyler Eveland), Erzulie Goddess of Love (Sara Gaetano) and Papa Ge, God of Death (Ciro Falanga) all play their part to set her on a journey to be with Daniel. In the end, Ti Moune chooses her own destiny and courageously accepts her fate.

Once on This Island is the second show in the Shoreline Actor's Collective 2018/19 season and is directed and choreographed by Maria Teresa Lonetti. This show also marks the one year celebration of the company's move to the historic Academy building on Main Street in Clinton, Ct. Laura Attanasio, Founder and Executive Director of the company, began 13 years ago with just a handful of youth. She never imagined it would become a leading center for arts education in Ct. From just a few middle school youth performing small plays annually in 2006, the Shoreline Theater Academy is now widely respected as a first rate Academy of Performing Arts today, offering year-round programs and productions including classes in dance, voice, and acting while producing over 9 fully staged productions each year.

Today, the Shoreline Theater Academy proudly facilitates three branches of performance study for actors ranging from 5 to adult including EDGE (Educate through Drama, Grow through Experience), SAC (Shoreline Actors Collective), and its best known arm, Kidz Konnection (a leadership training and self-empowerment approach to performing). Thus, each branch provides those exploring the performing arts with a unique, tailored program that meets the performer's personal interests in the performing arts from dramatic acting, to big stage performing, to professional opportunities.

Please, join us December 7th-9th for Once on This Island and the celebration of our 1 year anniversary of our great move to the Academy building. A pre-show reception December 7 and 8 will be offered to patrons of the show with a post-show gala reception, open to the public, on December 9, at 6:30pm following the closing performance.

Once on This Island is a 90 minute musical with no intermission. Held at The Academy building, 61 East Main Street, Clinton, it is the historic, yellow building directly across the street from the Clinton Town Hall and located on the green of First Church of Christ.

All seats are $20.00. For tickets please go to https://kidzkonnection.regfox.com/tickets-for-once-on-this-island. For more information please call 860-227-2363. Email shorelineactorscollective@gmail.com or visit www.shorelineactorscollective.org.
